Question about my new Mastiff puppy

Hi, I have a 13 week old English Mastiff. He weighs arounds 30 pounds. Recently ( a couple days ago) I noticed his front left leg and paw look different from the right. It is bent in at the joint and the paw is sort of bent out. I ttok him to my vet and they say it could just be the way he is growing and it should correct itself. I'm very concerned about this. His parents were 225 and 250. I don't want problems down the road with him carrying his weight. Has anyone ever seen or heard of anything like this? He is on Eagle Pack large breed puppy food so I dont think thats the problem, it only has 23% protein. Any suggestions?? thanks in advance

How long have you had your new pup? How long has he been on Eagle Pack? Does the 'bent' foot look like he may be walking on his ankle, like it is hyper-extended?

Sounds likr knuckling to me. If this is the case then there are a few things you can do to resolve this. Do you have any pictures?

Things to do

*Feed a lower protien food around 21% - IMO, California Natural is the best food out there to do this. Quality food......right amount of protein.

*Apple cider vinegar tonic is good for growth & other issues. ACV helps them
to easily absorbed the calcium into their system. http://www.doglogic.com/hod.htm

2 teaspoons of Apple Cider Vinegar mixed with a cup of water with honey.

Larger quantity recipe
TONIC FORMULA - From Hazel Gregory (long, long, long time dane breeder)
To mix tonic formula use equal amounts each of pure Apple Cider Vinegar and Honey = 1 quart. Example: 1 pint Apple Cider Vinegar + 1 pint Honey.
Put on their food two or three times a day.

*MSM is great for puppies to help prevent joint issues and it helps correct problems. I gave it to mine everyday until they were 6 months old. I only give it now once a week. We give them 1/8 tsp twice a day when they are going through major growth spurts. http://wolfcreekranch1.tripod.com/naturvet_msm.html

Also don't free feed.

Hope this helps!

i used to feed one of my mastiffs the eagle pak giant breed food. i would recommend taking him off of it. he will probablly eat more on another food. my mastiff never got filled off of eagle pak. plus that stuff can get rather expensive.

you should also talk to the breeder of this puppy..find out what heritary things that the bitch and stud have if any ..communication to the breeder and to the vet... it sounds like hes got a angular deformaty...iit may or may not straighten out..
hmmm sorry thats all i can come up with....
