Question About Ear Posting

I had my puppy, Draco, ears cropped at 8 weeks. Long story short, I didn't take him to the vet for the cropping because 1- my vet doesn't perform the procedure and 2 - the one vet in my area wouldn't perform the procedure until he was 16 weeks. I've used this vet before for my two Boxers and he does really good work. However, based on the information I've been reading that's a bit late for a CC.

During the healing process his ear got infected and i was second guessing my decision. My vet did a great job getting me back on the right path and his ears have healed nicely.

My question is, how much time should I give for the ears to completely stand. I've attached a picture, hopefully you can see the state of his ears, should I just give it more time, or should I start posting them right away? If so, can someone recommend the correct process for posting them?

I have to ask. If you didn't have the vet do the cropping, who did it and how was it done?

As for standing, give it time. The breeders on the forum generally don't think posting for a CC crop is necessary. I know massage can help. If you've had cropped boxers then you know that they can do really crazy things when the pup is teething, so expect that. If you do really want to post, I would say to look into trying molefoam.

Thanks for the advice, to answer your questions, after seeing the results of other dogs he has done, I used a breeder that does his own puppies. As for how they were they done, I don't know because I dropped him off and 1.5 hour later they were done. I know he was sedated because he was still out well after I picked him up.

Thank you for your answer. I admit to a gut reaction to hearing that a vet didn't do it, but I do try not to jump to conclusions before asking for clarification. I used to foster for Boxer rescue and one of my special boys had his ears done with scissors. It was just an awful situation and it caused a lot of issues for the boy. His ears were terribly infected and healed poorly. I named him Vincent Van Gogh, lol. The people cut them in a battle type crop, very unevenly, but they did end up healing fairly well and standing. His were done late though, as he was 9 months when I pulled him from the shelter.
