Question about boss's ears

Boss had his ears cropped a week ago. Right now the vet has his ears tapped up with an interesting contraption.

He said they need to be taped to it like this till the stitches come out then they will be taped normally. Only problem is the tape keeps unsticking and we've had to get them retaped almost every day. I see a lot of people not tape the ears at all until the stitches come out. What's everyone's thoughts on this?

Here's a picture of them out of the tape.

They are fresh here so still a little swollen. After a few hours untapped they start to flop.

Please follow this link.
It's on how to put mole skin in the ears to help post.
It can be done while the stitches are in and they do not fall out so easily.

I have been doing this to my Presa ears for a very long time.

Some vets (although not most that I am aware of) will not tape until the stitches comes out of the ears as it can irriate them some. But each vet is different.

There is a vet in Vancouver that tapes puppies ears like that. He is actually a very well known vet cropping vet and folks come from the States to have him do the ears. I never taped after the stiches came out, just massaged and they stood fine. That said it was a shorter crop then yours appears to be. I would follow the link above and be patient :)

The vet is very well none for ear cropping. It's Butchko, he's been doing ears for over 30 years. Although he's known for dobbies I've seen his work on other dogs and its good. He has a doughnut collar and he can't get to them to scratch. The tape comes off just from him shaking his head. Thanks Debbie I was hoping you would chime in. Your pressa ears always come out beautiful. I like the longer look as opposed to the combat short look.

So the mole skin can be glued in there even if the ear isn't healed all the way? The glue doesn't irritate them at all?

My Bane wore the e collar with tape until the stitches were removed. We are about 4 weeks post open now and are still going every 5 days to get them retaped

Stella didn't have anything on her ears until her stitches were removed. With that said, I had a friend whose puppy wore that hat that yours has on, and the dogs ears stood perfectly after two weeks of the hat. My dog on the other hand needed posting for 3 months.

I tried the mole skin method with Stella, and I don't know if we got the wrong glue or what, but it got really hot and stella freaked. Plus it just didn't work for us, the ears just still didn't stand with the mole skin in them, but once again it could be that we just did it wrong. The mole skin definitely looks like less of a pain than standard posting so I would try that method before posting.

Hank's looked like a nurse's cap. His stayed on, but just for three days. After that we never had to tape again.
