Puppy Weight

We just picked up out "8 wk old" DDB at least we were he was 8 wks. Just looking around at other pictures of DDB's he seems much smaller maybe 6 wks. We took him to the vet when we got him and he weighed 6.5 lbs. Just looking on the internet people have said their DDB's have weighed 11-12 lbs at 8 weeks. Has anyone else had one that weighed 6.5lbs at 8weeks, he probably weighs about 8lbs now.

Here at the weights when we first got them for moose and my moms DDB concrete, There both from different breeders.

20lbs at 10 wks for Crete
12lbs a 9wks for Moose

That sounds good, he is 9wks now and weighs about 11lbs, he's looking good. I really think the guy on the video I was watching may have been off on his puppies age. He said he was 8wk but he was massive. Well I feel better now thanks.

Yeah no prob, I find that too when I go on youtube, this one ddb was supposedly 8 months but he looked way more like 2 yrs! But your pup seems right in the norm!

You may very well have been sold a DDB that was younger than 8 weeks. My best friend bought a Fila pup from Shoo-Its several years ago -- he was supposed to be transported by air when he was 8 weeks old. When the little guy got there, he was tiny -- and sick. Turns out he was only 4 weeks old. It's a testament to how tough a Fila pup is that he survived. Sad to think a breeder would be so unethical, let alone callous, but it happens.
