Puppy cold

Poor Kujo has a cold, his nose is runny and his eyes are especially weepy. :( I feel bad for the little guy, I want to take him in to the vet but I have a tendancy to over-react and my bf and some other friends say dogs get colds just like we do, he'll bounce back in a couple of days. Also, I know the vet would likely pray on my over-reaction and try to prescribe him something he doesn't need.

Any other members deal with their pups getting a cold?

He's been wheezing a little, not much though, and I looked again at this nose disharge, it's more of a yellow/green. I've set an appointment to take him in this evening. He still has an eppetite and his energy level is only down a little bit. Better safe than sorry.

Yea green or yellow I don't mess with. I'm glad you made him an appointment. Make sure to let us know how it goes!

Thanks, I will definitely keep you posted! I forgot to mention, I'm not sure if it's related or not: over the weekend we visisted some friends, they have cats. One of the cats was being a real snatch and when Kujo was walking by she clawed his face. We checked him immediately and didn't see any scratches...seems a bit too coincidental though...they said all their cats are fully vaccinated. Poor kujo was just trying to say hi, he was very friendly and non aggressive towards the cats, and even after the incident wanted to say hi and be friendly with the other cat.

So the vet said its most likely a viral infection and will clear up in a week, we have a follow up appointment set. Also all 3 vets agreed that he is developing Entropion in his other eye :( they recommended eye drops to help with lubrication. And they also said at 9 months old he will have developed enough to have the eye surgeries. I want to wait until his head is full grown and I don't think that will stop at 9 months. I know my vets aren't as familiar with mastiffs (they all love seeing him though lol), once we complete the puppy plan I'll be looking for a vet that knows mastiffs. Thanks again for the advice everyone!
