Problem with Kismet, AGAIN

Kismet is acting as if she has something caught in her throat. It's not affecting her breathing or eating. When we got her out this morning, she drug me straight outside and started eating grass. When we came in she was doing a cross between a little cough and retching. She ate breakfast with no problems. Then seemed fine. Now she has started it again. Little mini episodes, about 5 of them.

She is sleeping fine now. I am getting ready to feed them lunch and will see how she does. If she does have something in her throat I'm not talking about anything big. Kind of like when you get one of those baby fish bones stuck in the back of your throat. I did feed her a couple of raw shrimp yesterday, headed but with the shell still on.

Thoughts or suggestions, please?

I have no problem taking her to the vet but at this point we are talking being worked in which usually means a couple of hours which neither of us want. Plus, the last two times I panicked and ran her up there and waited, she self resolved. (insect bite and then when she was acting lethargic).

We have an ER vet real close if it were to get worse during the night. I'm just wondering what you would look for to trigger a visit, other than the obvious?

Thank you!!!

Poor thing. I'm not sure what to look for and I'm not a run to the vet every time one of mine look crooked. If it doesn't seem to really be bothering her and she isn't having issue breathing she might work it out herself . If it gets worse or lasts too long or starts to appear to bother her I would take her in to be safe.

She appears to be your problem child. :)

My frigging internet went down. I bet you took advantage of that. LOL

Yes, she is my problem child. She also lets you know when she doesn't feel well. I want to take her to the vet and get her a shot so she will stop looking at me with those sad, pitiful eyes. LOL

I think she and Magnum should hook up!

I wish I had taken advantage but i got home from the office and check my dinner in the crock pot and decided to put together a new potato side dish so my cooking gave you the advantage. Aw, poor pitiful little thing! Yes, they should BUT there problems would probably multiply and that could get costly!

Also, because you are making fun of my food pictures. My potatoes are ready to go in the oven. LOL

What a bitch! Now you are just showing off!

That looks really good. Let me know how it turns out. I might want to to try it but not until fall. It is way to hot to turn the oven on for more than the 5 minutes to broil a couple of steaks.

After my experience with Daisy I am probably paranoid bit I would be worried about those sharp grass seeds if she is coughing. Not sure how you would find out but if it keeps going I would have it checked out.

Lol. Crazy hot here but I keep it nice and cool with AC set real low. These potatoes will go wonderfully with the garlic chicken that has been cooking in the crock pot all day.

Girl, I have the AC set at 70 and it is 76 in here. It has been running since noon non-stop and will finally cycle off around 8 pm. I've had all kinds of AC guys out and they said the best an AC can do here is keep the house about 15 to 18 degrees cooler than it is outside and it's 100 outside right now.

On a positive note a couple of years ago, our son showed up with an AC for the bedroom. My fat ass doesn't leave the bedroom LOL It was the cutest thing. When I would come in with Cane from taking him out in the afternoon. We would literally race to the AC to stand in front of it. Debra used to laugh her ass off. She said Cane was the only one that could get away with that.

Thank you! I didn't think of that. If she continues I'll call the vet and check with them to see if they can check for that.

It is 72 degrees in here right now it I wouldn't be cooking a damn thing. I laughed out loud at the vision of you and Cane racing to the AC.

So, how is she doing now? Still coughing?

Wow, that's kind of odd. I almost wonder if Kismet swallowed something that scratched her throat/esophagus and is causing some irritation?

Is she raw-fed? In humans, there is something called a "meat-bolus" meaning very literally that they have a ball of meat stuck in their esophagus. But, these people tend to be in some distress, and it doesn't sound like your girl is having a hard time.

Sheesh, I am stumped. I would bring her in in the morning if your instincts keep saying that something is wrong.

I really hate it when I get a piece of meat or rice or a damn piece of dog hair stuck in my throat. I think the worse experience was a fucking piece of toothbrush bristle in my throat. God that was horrible - it didn't go away until after a week. I thought that was going to be the rest of my life: a bristle in my throat forever lol.

A potato chip that scratches your throat is about the same: days upon days of discomfort. Damned potato chips! The toothbrush bristle was probably pretty awful.

Seriously, we have people come in who need emergency intervention because of "meat boluses". Most of the time, an endoscope is used to remove the ball of meat. Sometimes, the patient needs to be placed on a ventilator. Needless to say, no matter how yummy a cut of meat is, I chew the shite out of it.

I would wait until morning, too. I'm wondering if maybe the shrimp shell got caught up in her throat? Or just a piece of it... You could try giving her some coconut oil to help coat her throat.

But if she is fine otherwise, I would wait.

And Kris, those potaotes look so pretty, even before cooking. Are there sliced onions in there, too?

Yes. Sliced onions in between every few slices. The pan is brushed with melted butter and olive oil, the potatoes and onion go in, salt pepper and a little crushed red pepper then they are brushed with the oil and butter and baked for 1 hour and 25 minutes then I added some small bacon pieces, a little parsley and a little grated Parmesan and put back in the oven for 35 more minutes. They were SO good.
