Presa canario / Cane corso mix

I will soon me getting a 8 week old female Presa/Corso mix :eek: . I'm familiar with both breeds. I just can't find any info on this mix . she is so beautiful . Sense many of you own cc and presa could you tell me how protection she might be ? What type of food to feed her Raw /Barf diet or something else ?Do you think a 10 x 10 kennel would be a good size kennel for her while shes out side ? Some of my family members think she should get her ears cropped,how do you guys feel about that choice? :confused:Answers/opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome aboard~ You should be able to find answers to your questions by searching the forum. If you can't find answers, post and you'll get answers.

Her Protectiveness will really depends on lineage, how you raise her, if you work her etc.
most dogs in general will bark but if your looking for a man stopper when the bad guy comes into your home highly doubt it.
I am a owner, handler & breeder of Presas.

That's awesome!
I would look for a local Protection club and talk to them about coming out and learning from them.
Take the pup with you so the trainer can tell you what to start.
DO NOT GO TO A PET OBEDIENCE TRAINER.. This will dumb down the type of obedience you need for a working dog.
What kind of personal Pro. Do you wanna do .. Sport or PPD work?

Schutzhund or PPD , there's not to many repidabal places near me that i would consider taknd her too. the only place is a like 100 miles away and she trains German Shepherds. Would their training work for a large mastiff breed?

If you are in St Louis like your info states.. there is few SchH clubs there. GSD training unless that trainer knows how to train a mastiff type breed then NO it will not work b/c the trainer / decoy will give up for they get started due to the FACT that Mastiff drives (Prey / Play) come in waves .. not like a GSD or Mali where they go from 0 - 10 and stay at 10 in Prey.. Does this make sense?

Ya i understand most of it .Yes there is a few clubs in the st.louis area but most of them are GERMAN SHEPHERD only . i might be wrong tho . I still have a little time because i am still waiting to get her . Do you train protection dogs ?

Yes I train Protection dogs .. If you go into the Presa section you will see my latest dog working.
I have Presas, Malinois, & PRTs .. All work

That exactly what i want to train my dog to do . Some times I watch the Leerburg videos they are very helpful . Did some one train you or did you teach your self how to teach your dogs to bite ? For me that's the most confusing part . Do the dogs naturally bite sleeves/bite suites or did you have to show them where to bite ????

I am a decoy and trainer so my foundation work I do myself, If you do not know what your are doing I dont suggest you do yourself b/c you can mess up your dog.
Dogs do not just bite the sleeve, suit or tug. Bite training take still and patients from you, dog and trainer.

I personally do a raw diet with mine.
I have my rescue dogs that eat Core when I have them.
I do not feed food that has any with grains

There is a SchH Club there that works Presa's b/c my friend trains there .. I will find out the name for you

I think i might have found a dog training service [h=2]Iron Heart Dogs and Training How much does it usually cost because there charging $50 - $75 dollars per lesson .[/h]
