Your dogs are so cute and so expressive. I was trying to pick just one favourite, but...I can't, they are all my favourites.

Last night was our first snow fall in New Hampshire. We got about five inches or so. I hate snow, but my dogs absolutely love it. Today I was so happy it brought a tear to my eye. Cora was able to run and play in the snow. After a long and grueling recovery from TPLO surgery on Memorial Day weekend, she finally has the ability to run on her own. It’s probably the best gift we could have asked for this holiday. We could not have asked for anything more beautiful. :)

This is an example of happiness. It took a lot ogwork to get Kryten comfortable in public spaces where there are kids after we had a problem with kids entering the yard after they had been told not to. He decided kids were not to be trusted and made sure they knew to stay back. He now wants attention again when away from home and at home he is just watchful instead of defensive, which I'll take as a win. He doesn't have to interact with kids if he doesn't want to.

In his senior years, Al's gotten sloppy with his roll over. It's okay. He's an old man now. He still gets very excited every time he sees a clicker. He loves to work and you can see how much fun he's having. This makes me happy.

I found another one that makes me laugh. We have a bell next to the tub because they sometimes like to drink from the tub faucet. Al has been ringing that bell for years. Some days he just gets ... confused. He's so funny.

I used a clicker and shaped the roll over. I could find some articles on shaping for you, if you want. It's basically teaching a more complicated behavior in small steps. I love the clicker because it forces the dogs to think. My dogs are never afraid to try new things because they know they aren't going to get punished for getting it wrong. I'll try to find the video of when he was young and did an enthusiastic roll over. It's hysterical.

Just quickly, here is a link to explain shaping better. It's not specific to teaching roll over, but it will explain the shaping process better than I can.
