Possibly adopting first fila puppy

Hi. I may be adopting an 8 week old Fila puppy from a rescue. They have mom and they say she's soft on temperment. They have not met the sire--they only know he's a Fila. Both mom and pups are currently quite friendly and social, according to the rescue. Is there any way at all to estimate the probability of the pups being like their mom vs developing a higher level ojeriza? Has anyone seen a Fila without ojeriza give birth to a litter of pups with lots of it?

Happens all the time.
The pups are adorable!! But if you are worried about the temp. Why are you wanting a Fila? There is no way to tell what they will be like as adults.

I have not got a file but would love one, banned here,i think you've got to ask yourself are you right to own one, read and ask file owners what your life would be like owning one.theres no point getting a pup and preying it wont have a file temp and then it does and you can't cope.good luck

Thanks for the replies. I'm not praying it won't have temperment. Just wondering about the probability of it being strong in a puppy who's mother doesn't have it. I am very familiar with the Fila's temperment and actually have a lifestyle very conducive to owning one. The only company I have is the maid and dog walker, who visit regularly. Would like to have a dog that can calmly assess the situation and protect if necessary. Don't really want a lunging maniac, if I can help it. I plan to socialize the heck out of the puppy with good, supportive exposure to the world and people in it so that when and if it does develop ojeriza (sp?) it will be better able to distinguish true threat from harmless activity. My Boerboel, bless his heart, is a wonderful dog but will hide behind me when scared. Would be nice to have a companion for him that is also more protective of the home.

Its possible a female with no guard temp or OJ, could have a litter that every puppy has one or both. Unlikely, but certainly possible. On the contrary there are litters with two hard parents, that end up with a soft pup or two.

when you know what you want... why take a guess with a rescue puppy of wich you know nothing about?

I told one of the neurologists at work who is from Brazil that I planned on getting a Fila in the future and he looked at me like I had a second head haha

nothing in life is guaranteed but by taking a dog wich you know nothing about, getting what you're looking for is like winning the lotery ;)
