  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

Please pray for Jake

We are on our way to Saskatoon. He's been on IV antibiotics since Monday, they've tested for every type of bug bite, snake bite, heart worm, X-rays etc. Theyve put ports in to drain the fluid, the fever has broke, he's still swollen but looks a lot better today. Thank you everyone. We are more hopeful today than yesterday. I'll keep you posted.

Was wondering if he may have come into contact with hogweed, its pretty common in Ontario, and it is nasty stuff, I would maybe mention it to the vet and see what he says, seeing he has been tested for everything else.

Do you need a place to stay or even hang out while he's there? I live in Saskatoon. PM me. We'd love to have you.

That's an awesome offer, Cyndnelson! Our forum truly does have the BEST people!

We made it to Saskatoon last night. We are so glad that we brought him here, we feel he is in the absolute best hands here. He will be here a while. But we have a diagnosis, he had small fluid filled cyst near the joint that we were keeping a close watch on he figures that it burst into the joint instead of out if the skin the way they normally will and went septic. So he has a septic joint. They are hoping he'll continue responding to the antibiotics and may have to do surgery still but not yet. He's happy with how well Jake is still walking on the limb so he's pretty confident at this point he won't lose it. It could be quite a recovery too for him. We are going to leave him here and head home tomorrow to drop the boat and unpack. We will come back when they say he can go home. Thank you all for your prayers and good wishes!!!!

Cyndnelson has the biggest heart. Such a kind offer in our time of crisis. I've texted with her now and may still take her up on her offer (I'd love to meet her and Caesar). Maybe when we come back to pick him up.

We just talked to the vet. The ultrasound showed no other pockets of infection and it's not spread. So it doesn't look like he needs surgery. He ate today (yahoo) that means he's starting to feel better. Looks like we can bring him home Sunday if he still continues to improve. He'll need daily care here for a bit but that's fine they have a facility here we can take him to. I'll take next week off and if he needs further care his dog sitter will come in to help out.
Holy moly this has been quite the adventure not one I want to go through again.
