It's my understanding that nail color is due to pigmentation. Toes with black usually have black nails, while white toes usually have white nails. My boxers have both black and white nails, and a couple that are a bit of both. Here's a picture of Roy's foot. He's a reverse brindle, so more dark hairs than fawn colored hairs. (The color descriptions for the mastiff breed and the boxer breed are different.) The toe furthest away has more dark hair than you can see, and it's almost all black. The two middle toes are mostly white - mostly white nails. The closest toe has more brindling and is a combo of dark and light and it's a multi-colored toe. Mr. Chev's toe with the light nail has much less black than the rest of his toes. Bet that's your favorite nail to clip, huh? image1.jpeg
