Pet Insurance?

Hi, all!

I just wanted to know what everyone's thoughts on pet insurance is.

-Is it worth it?
-Best insurance company?
-Worst insurance company?
-Coverage options?

One thing that concerns me is Cora's torn CCL. If I obtained insurance for her, would they cover the other leg if she tore it? Her good leg is completely cleared and she has no medical condition that caused this.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

For me it has been worth it. I figured it out a couple of years ago. At that point both dogs would have to live past their expected life spans before I paid more in premiums than I had been reimbursed already. With the regular claims and his second surgery by the time I lose Kryten he will likely have paid for a third dog.
I have only had Trupanion and except for one claim that took 3 weeks and resubmitting (or possibly a first as that was the only time I've had the vet submit an non surgical claim) everything has been fast. The last one was 3 days. I choose the lowest premium which did mean the highest deductible. Since Trupanion is a deductible per condition it has worked great as I only had to pay it at the start of his elbow dysplasia treatment and not every year like some plans.
As for the second knee it can depend on which company you go for. I remember reading that some the second leg is pre-existing and some if it is long enough since the first leg it can be covered.

I think it is useful but definitely you will need to make sure that whatever company you go with they don't consider it a pre-existing condition. The pre-existing clauses really frustrated me with MetLife Pet Insurance (who we had for awhile). For us every possible issue we had they marked as pre-existing and I got fed up with not being able to get any reimbursement for anything and paying over $200 a month for both dogs. So I would say don't use MetLife (they actually are responsible for a few of the more popular insurances but I cant think of which ones right now).
