so i was wondering if anyone has any experience with this newer product. it claims to have the same ingredients as frontline, which is what i currently use but is much cheaper. i dunno, i know that most things which are too good to be true usually are so i am skeptical and really REALLY REALLY dont want fleas.

thanks,

Bill

I tend to be leary of products you can buy from anywhere just because I don't think they are regulated like the products the vets carry.

I thought that it was the same company that made Frontline was selling this Pet Armor. They just came out with this Pet Armor because they were busted for way over-pricing the same flea control you can purchase much cheaper in the stores, and people have started realizing this over the past few years. So they came out with this "new" (yet same exact thing) as Frontline. :) Just my guess though when I saw the commercials. That's what I got out of it

I know very little about pet armor, but like you, I really don't want fleas. We put Moose on Trifexis and LOVE it! The Trifexis prevents and kills fleas, prevents heartworms, and prevents intestinal parasites. Poor Moose had fleas when we brought him home and within six hours of taking the trifexis he was flea free. I also like that I can take care of fleas and heartworms in one tablet. I know you didn't ask about Trifexis, but we find the $22/pill worth it :)

This. They lost the patent. Just like generics at the store. If it has the same ingredients, then there ya go. I buy fiproguard...same as frontline. 50% the cost.

I also give Molli Sentinel for worms and such.

All I can tell you is it works fantastic and only cost 30$ for 3 month supply. Good deal if you ask me. Better than paying 60$ + tax

Currently I believe pet armor is being pulled off the shelves because frontline is suing them. Walmart is allowed to sell whatever they have left but last I heard the manufacturing of Pet Armor was being stopped.

Anyone use or used it?

My friend brought it for their hunting dog who always came back infested with ticks, since then there's barely a tick on him.

My co-worker and I got into a little "debate" about it ( we just do it for fun :) passes the time) He claims this stuff is crap and that only vets issue legitimate stuff.

I used it before with no issues with Thor, I didn't see the need for it where I used to live and have been fine. Now being IN the woods things have changed.

This is from PetArmour's website.

[h=3]Why the same, for less?*[/h] PetArmor is a generic version of Frontline Top Spot with the same active ingredient—fipronil. The fipronil patent (U.S. Patent # 5,232,940) has expired, clearing the way for generic products to be available. We've made it up to 50% less expensive* and available in stores where you shop, because we'd like to help more pets stay flea and tick free.

I tell him the same thing, but because the vet themselves don't issue it, its not legit, lol. Like I said we have fun with it though. Told him Thor is my "experiement this season.

Pet armour is the generic yes, and just like you may by the generic version of Motrin in the store for you it should be the same as the name brand.

For ticks I prefer a Preventic collar as Apollo's coat is so thick I'd never spot a tick on him.

I notice you're in the South so I would worry a little about the treatments that claim to do it all. I can't remember the exact brand but I know of three dogs that got heartworms on a similar medicine. I guess you could speak with the vet because he should know of the case in the area. Mosquitos are pretty serious is our area though. I use 1% Ivomec at a dose of 1cc per 100lbs of body weight for heartworms.
