We give salmon oil daily to all our dogs and give only give Modena the coconut oil because she need the weight. She'll eat ~ 1 tbl spoon and then eat around it.

For extra virgin oil i use either Olitalia or borges brand.
Wheatgerm oil - Rex brand.
Flaxseed oil - Health 1st(Indian brand)
Salmon oil - Grizzly(Using it now), Beaphar(used it in the past ,now i avoid it like a plaque)

Also you can use Grizzly Pollock oil in place of Salmon oil. Just for a change if your dog likes it.

Well I have been giving them 1 tbsp of EVOO and 1 capsule a piece of Fish oil and they seem to be ok with it...I also added 2 tablespoons of pumpkin puree to their food today. Haven't been able to get the salmon oil or coconut oil yet. I can never really tell if they like something new i try because reguardless of what it is they both eat the same way all the time.

Corelina eats like its her last meal and I have to stand there and tell Titan "Eat Titan, come on mama's lil boy...time to eat" he will sniff it for a minute, keep looking at me and finally start eating. He always finishes his food but it seems to take a while before he starts eating...not sure why he does this.

Try to get salmon oil. They have extreme palatability. Once you mix in the ratios which i have given before, everything works out pretty great. My male rott was always fuzzy about eating something very regular except the oil blend. I also rotate his dry food every month except the oil because i have the belief that the oil which i am giving to all dogs will help their heart in the future. Also try to get Wheatgerm oil and Flaxseed oil. I don't know what is EVOO and don't forget the extra virgin olive oil because that will be the base for this blend. Try them. You will be amazed with the results.:)

Coconut oil is good but it cannot match the good properties of Extra virgin olive oil. My formula is different. I studied from the book called "The Whole Pet Diet" by Andi Brown. The author recommends mixing different oils and make it a blend say take 500ml of extra virgin olive oil along with 100ml salmon oil, 100ml wheatgerm oil and 100ml flaxseed oil. Mix all together in a blender and pour it into a dark colour glass bottle. You can keep this bottle in the refrigerator. According to the pet's weight, we can supplement the oil as follows:
2 - 11 pounds - 1/2 teaspoon(2.5ml).
12 - 25 pounds - 1 teaspoon(5ml).
26 - 50 pounds - 2 teaspoon(10ml)
51 - 100 pounds - 1 tablespoon(15ml)
100 pounds+ - please follow the above limits for every pound limit so a dog which is more than 150 pounds gets 2 tablespoon a day(30ml)

My dogs get 7.5ml in the morning and another 7.5ml in the night. I have 5 dogs(15ml each). Hence they consume 75ml a day. My wife mix these oils thrice a month. So a total of 2,250ml a month for 5 dogs. But she mix 2400ml a month. Remaining 150ml will be consumed in another 2 days. So our preparation comes for 32 days.

I hope you don't mind, I copied your recipe to our corso group for Canadians as there were some that were asking about using oils in dogs a bit ago.

Can you tell me where or what store you get these oils from? I am definitely going to try your recipe, i just need to find them. I have extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) not sure where to get salmon, wheatgerm or flaxseed oil. Do all of these come in capsules, like fish oil or bottles?

I've been using olive oil on Titan's face for 5 days rather than the usual coconut oil and I've noticed a huge difference. His face is no longer dry. :)

You can find the other oils at Whole Foods, Sprouts or big grocery chains like Kroger or Tom Thumb. I doubt WalMart will carry those oils but they might.

That's great I'm glad its working so well for him!! I started using it after i got hooked on the Food Network channel.

Sadly we don't have any of those stores in Mobile that I am aware of. We do have a Fresh Market, Publix and of course a ton of Wal Marts.

For those in Canada, Bulk Barn has both EVOO and Virgin Coconut Oil.

Oh please go ahead BlackShadowCaneCorso! I want everyone over here to try and share Andi Brown's recipe. To be honest the recipe is not mine.People intend to keep their dogs healthy, fit and live for long can make use of this recipe as i can see everyone on this forum love their dogs to the fullest. I am just a tool supporting the article made by Andi Brown. I am using this oil blend for the past 10 months and my dogs are looking fabulous and healthy.
I am in India and we don't have quality brands like in the US, UK etc. Most of the brands like Rex wheatgerm oil and Grizzly salmon oil are imported by private firms. EVOO(Extra Virgin Olive oil) are imported by many companies mostly from US and UK. Flaxseed oil is done by an indian brand called Health 1st.

Perfect thanks, We have been using Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Coconut oil on alternate days but am going to give your recipe a try. I have one boy that is allergic to grains so likely will just keep him on the EVOO and coconut oil since they seem to be working fine for him.
