  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

Oh dear, please send some good thoughts

My crew and I are sending lots of good thoughts your way. Glad to hear that he doesn't seem to have suffered any ill effects from the bleach. Hope that hock turns out to be no big deal either.

Your thoughts and prayers were heard, I just got back from the vet, good news is no damage was done to the kidneys or any other vital organs. However the white blood cell count was low she said. He also had burns on his mouth, tongue, and most likely esophagus sp?, along with the gi track. They administered some charcoal ( which he loved.....ew....) , medicated dog food, and some antibotics. The vet doesn't know why his left hock is swollen but she didn't want to give him anything since he already had the prescriptions. We go back for a check up on Friday.

Poor guy is not himself when he got home, he wouldn't take any treats nor eat the wet dog food. He just stared at it with that depressed look and laid back down. Hoping he feels like himself as the week progresses, plus its be hot as heck here so that's not helping either.

Thank you all once again for the help and prayers. :)

Update this morning he is better today, started playing and he ate. However he lost a lot of weight ( these guys are a pain to keep on weight as it is because they grow so fast) His leg has gotten worse as well, now his WHOLE leg that's swollen. He is still putting weight on it and walking. There was some discomfort when I applied some pressure to it. I am not sure what is going on, we go back to the vet tomorrow so hopefully we'll find out more on that. Going to check on him at lunch.

Thank you all again for your kind thoughts and prayers.

Is there any way he could have laid in it and absorbed some through his skin? I have seen dogs who have sat in detergent and it has caused edema.

It is possible however I didn't even get a chance to mop the floor prior to this. I usually clean after I take both boys out, feed Thor, and fan dry the floor. I put the boys in the tile area which is easy to clean and dries pretty quick. I also place the bucket on the counter so something that this would not happen, but that morning was rough and my head wasn't straight. Regardless because of my negligence he paid the price. The vet stated as long as they get out of the 48-72 hour mark then usually animals will be ok.

I just checked on him again a lunch its still the same size. Despite that it doesn't seem to be bothering him unless you squeeze it. When I get home this evening I will post picture of it.

The swollen leg was leaking when I got home.........

Did you let your vet know? I would try to get him seen at your vet or at an emergency clinic right away. I'm very worried for your puppy. :(

I would suggest not using a warm cloth but instead a cool one. On weepy limbs, the warm can increase swelling. I know it sounds like it might relax it, but trust me. Cool will help bring down the swelling. Cold is better, maybe a cool leg bath. Also make sure he drinks lots of water. But again, always cold for swelling. Which I am sure will be super easy on a pup. LOL Good luck

I don't want to make things worse, but with edema and the weird bleach-drinking thing have you considered lymphoma? Swollen lymph nodes can constrict normal drainage and cause edema, plus it can manifest with lethargy, extreme thirst, and food rejection. Usually the white blood cells would be elevated, but it's something to ask the vet when you go in again.
I really hope it isn't ... hoping it's just a temporary blockage or something.
