oh my goodness, so I've found out that I have to have surgery May 15th, YAY Me!
My issues is I just don't seem to have enough time to get everything done for my dogs before then!

I'm more worried about my dogs then anything.... Sunny doesn't eat when I go away. Last time we had to get my puppy sitter to take her to the vets for fluids and my puppy sitter was my dad!

Poor Bella won't have her bed to sleep on if I don't finish making it... She has been taking the couch for her bed but I can't ship my couch to my dad's.

I'm not really too worried about Bella.... I know since my dad just lost Hogan he will be poring love all over Bella the whole time she's there. Its Sunny that has me worried because I'm going in for stomach surgery they will keep me for 3 days. I'm just hoping my husband can get Sunny to drink enough so she doesn't get dehydrated.

I will be praying for you that all goes well during surgery. And for a quick recovery.Poor Sunny, she just loves her moma. I hope she does better than last time. If she begins to refuse water, hubby can make some electrolyte drink and make her drink with a little syringe. This is the recipe online...
Country vet Kaetheryn Walkerrecommends a solution of:
    • 1 quart of purified water
    • 1 tablespoon of sugar
    • 1 teaspoon of salt.
He might have to force her to drink it, but that's better than her ending up hooked to an iv. Hopefully she will willingly drink, and not end up needing it. I'll be thinking of you. Keep us updated if you can. :)

Hmmmm. I was going to suggest adding water to her food, but if she doesn't eat then that won't work. I suggest talking to your vet. My worry is that if anyone ended up having to force her to drink, she could aspirate. What about wet food? It might be enough of a novelty, if you don't ever give it, that she'd eat it and stay more hydrated?

Wishing you the best of luck with surgery and recovery.

Thanks guys... I'm sure I'll be fine....
I'm going to have my vet stop by the house to check in on Sunny
She's really wonderful... She said if Sunny is showing any signs of dehydration she can give her some fluids with a syringe just under Sunnys ski . She feels Sunny will be ok because she's a bit over weight and has enough fluids in her fat cells to see her threw until I get home.... She's done this before with and very old cat that was ill. It worked very well. Since I'm only going to be away from Sunny for 3 days this should hold her over until I get home. And this is just one of the reasons I love our vet so much. She really is a wonderful person and a very smart Vet too..... Thank goodness I thought to give her a call. Now I can have peace of mind and just concentrate on my recovery.

Yes I do. She’s our local traveling vet. Great for just the normal stuff. Not so great for surgery for my fur babies as i have to take them to someone else that Judy (Vet) recommends.

Thank you April, my surgery was delayed until June 12th, thank goodness!
I'm so busy at the office right now. Like crazy busy that I'm up working until the wee hours of the night. :p
This is good for my bank account and time to get more things done before my surgery :D

I wish you all the best, Sheila. Everything will go well, and you will be back to normal sooner than you think :).
I‘ve had similar thoughts, as I will be having surgery in the next couple of weeks. It really makes me feel bad. My wife is working three jobs right now, and I won‘t be big of a help in the household at all. At the same time, I won‘t be able to play with our big guy for a while. Again, good luck! The Mastiff family will be thinking about you on June 12th.

Tyler, I guess we're kinda surgery buddies! I'll just be getting released when your going in. This being my second time getting this surgery I can tell you the does and don'ts too.
Like don't over do it or you'll have to go back again like me

That‘s definitely a great suggestion. I do have some surgery experience because of my soccer "career" :D .
