This is an interior search. Again, the odour was not paired to a reward. Notice the way he detailed the table by running his nose along it. He struggled with this one as we haven't done a lot of searches that aren't paired and he's not used to the odour being on things like table legs. You can tell where he caught onto the odour and knew the general area of where it was. It's very important that you, the handler, are aware of your body language and do not stand between the dog and the odour.

Nice work!!! I love how methodical he is. The more video you can get of his searching to watch later, the better. Some dogs are so subtle with their alerts, and some are very obvious. If Angus ends up being subtle, the videos will really help you learn his signaling. Lillie and I started Nosework last night, she is much slower than Yogi, very much like Angus is. Yogi is like a bull in a china shop...

Thanks! I'm so happy that I was able to talk Jason into coming to videotape our searches. To me, Angus is pretty subtle.. Just staying at a box for a second or two longer than the others. Hopefully, Jason will continue videotaping our searches every now and then.

There is a 6 month old puppy that started class and his handler is probably 10-12 years old. The pup sounds like Yogi, just busting in there, stepping on boxes, kicking boxes, tripping over things LOL. You could really tell by the end of class though that the pup was mentally exhausted.

Last one! A simple paired search. Again, he detailed the table really nicely as he walked by.

I love your videos! They're very helpful.

I have to work on crowding Angus.

This can be a thread for anyone who wants to post videos of them and their dog doing nosework!

Yeah, I really have to work on that, too. I get nervous because Yogi recently started peeing during exterior searches. Huge no no... In our last class, we were searching on a brick wall and I was so close to him, he literally couldn't turn around to go back the other way and the trainer had to tell me to back up and give him enough room. http://scentsabilitiesnw.com/blog/proximity-of-influence.htmlHere's a great article and video about that.
