Newborn puppy help?

I know of a natural and raw-fed breeder that swears by liver broth as the best intake for fading and weak puppies. I have also heard that it is a useful tonic for dogs of any age in ailing health. Very potent and nourishing.

Just something to consider...

I will definately look into it. I put a 1/4 teaspoon of organic veal baby food in his formula. Vet swore by it unless he starts having diarhea then to stop until a bit older.

My last dog had epilepsy and he would have mild seizures once a month and I called him Shake'n'Bake because he would shake and then act like he was baked, lol. I hope your little boy pulls through and you are able to find good homes for all of the pups.

I guess he did just need some sugar. No seizures at all since veryearly this morning. He nursed Nikki earlier with my help and is nursing again right now without my help. He did suck on my lip for a bit earlier and I know it is yuky but OMG puppy breath heaven.

Everyone is doing fabulously. Even my little trooper. He spent the full night with mom and siblings. I did get up a couple of times last night to make sure everything was okay. We even have 4 prospective homes already with people we work with and know decently well.

I had a little teacup poodle and the first year of her life we had to carry around sugar water. As soon as she started to fade I'd whip out the sugar water she would take a couple of drinks and be right back to normal.

He is eating like a champ. I will be able to tell if he starts fading again and have my sugar water ready. At the moment he is fine and I am letting him stay with everyone else. The biggest pup, who my hubby has fittingly named "dozer" is actually having more problems getting trooper off a nipple than any of the other pups. The smallest female is hilarious we named her "gator" she will actually roll while nursing and it looks like what gators do when they are caught or feeding. I absolutely have to get it on film. Never seen anything like it.

I want to keep all the puppies. Period. Told my hubby it is not up for debate. He said that's fine a divorce is cheaper than 10 Engish Mastiffs. They have names now as well. Dozer, Auggie, Lil Nikki, Gator, Trooper, Ernie, Boris, and Curly. Dozer and Auggie are HUGE. In a couple of weeks it is going to be lively around here.

I was so wrapped up in taking care of Trooper I never thought how busy I will be very soon. I need to get organized and secure them homes. I want their mommies and daddies to pick them out before they are weaned and visit a couple of times before the big move. Plus there's potty training basics, crate basics, leash basics. good god. We were so bummed we rescued a pregnant dog we didn't really think ahead past the health stuff.

I saw a really cool idea one time, where a breeder cut (or bought) a square of turf to use inside to work with the first part of house potty training. The concept being to get them used to grass being where they are supposed to go. I will note thatprior to us picking up Apollo he had no leash or crate training, he was 10 weeks, and I was ok with that. He was comfortable with his collar though which helped.

I am so glad that all of the puppies are doing well. I could never have a litter of pups, either, because I WOULD keep them all!! LOL I don't envy the work ahead of you (Or that you have already had to do) but I admire what you are doing and am happy that you are beginning to find suitable forever homes for the babies. They are so damn cute!! Can't wait to see more photos!! :)

Just got off work. All puppies were napping in the closet. All were still alive. Nikki was chilling in the living room next to an empty bag of doritos and beef jerky. She evidently helped herself to kitchen counter items. She has never grabbed off the counter before so we never get anal about putting things up. Lesson learned momma was hungry. We weighed everyone. Dozer, Auggie, and Ernie no longer fit in the ktchen scale so I have no idea what they weigh. Everyone else is 2.4 to 2.8 and Trooper is only 1.2 but he was only .14 oz on Saturday. So he is gaining. Secured a home for a female pup today with a coworker. They have a chiweenie male and pt bull male that are both neutered so I explained it is good to hold off on the spaying and she agreed to it. They even ordered a Mastiff book (we work at Hastings) So she will have a great home in the country.
