Hi, I I have my first fila ever. Her name is Maggie and she's 8 weeks. Got her at just 4 weeks old because the breeders were dishonest about her age. She has bonded very closely with me in the last month and I lover her to death!
I did get a chance to see the parents and the dad was well over 100 lbs but the mom was on the smaller side, mabye 70 lbs. They said she was a runt and they didn't mean to breed her. Anyway I'm wondering if my Maggie will be on the small side too? She is 18 lbs and 8.5 weeks . Can anyone tell me what their puppies weighed at this age? Just curious..

I'd attach a pic, but not sure how..

Welcome to the forum. The weight of the pup sounds about right...usually about 20lbs at 2 months but depends on bloodlines and size of parents ofcourse. 100Lb male is rather small but I have heard of it happen...70lb female (adult?) is VERY small and way out of standard even for a CAFIB dog. I have a really small bitch that will probably get to "about" 100lbs and that is SMALL for a female.

to post a picture, upload it to your own computer. you can then come to the forum and within the posting window there is a tool bar that shows a small picture icon (next the movie film strip). click on the picture icon, then click on "from computer" tab, this opens up a window and you then click on "select files" button at the bottom, this opens up a box where you go to the folder on your computer where your pictures are located (usually under "my documents" then "my photos" but could be within whatever file folder you specified when the pictures were uploaded to your computer drive. just click on the photo (if you want more than one uploaded you can hold down the control key (ctrl) on the keyboard as you click on each photo you want. then click "OK", it will bring you back to the picture control box where you selected "select files" but now there will also show another box "upload photos" next to it, just click on that and it will upload them in your message.

You can also use the "go advanced" verse the "quick reply" button under the box you type in. Croll down and hit manage attachments. Click the "add file" button. Hit "basic uploader" button, and then "add photo"

No, lets see some pics. ahahaha

Congrats on your puppy. I don't mean to be a negative nancy here but that is not a full blooded Fila based on those pics. Even when the pup is not alert her earset is on top of her head and her face is way off. It may very well turn out to be a great dog, but watch out for unpredictable behavior. Since the breeder was dishonest about the age and makeup of the pup and would recommend you name the kennel to possibly save someone else the trouble.

I have also thought she may not be full blood. What else do you see? Mabye lab? Pit? She is a super sweet wonderful dog who is already almost housebroken and knows how to sit. She gets lots of attention and socializtion so I think she will be a great family dog. Does suck that we paid 200 for a dog that is not what we thought it was. But of course I know 200 is cheap compared to some of the prices I've seen online. We bought it from someone off of craigslist, which is not the most reliable way :) Regardless, we love her!

My female was 16 @ 8 wks while my male was 32 @ 9 wks. So I'm sure sex and genetics can vary greatly.

What is she weighing now days?
