New EM Puppy Bane

Bane is a great looking dog! He looks so calm in all his pictures. He's heavier than his mom, but I bet he still tries to climb up in her lap.

You are exactly right. He loves to play with us or other dogs (regardless of their size), but is generally very laid back and calm. Probably not a surprise, but he sleeps most of the time or chews his toys.

Today at the vet, I‘ve heard him growl for the very first time. We were sitting and both the vet and vet tech were standing in front of us (both males). He had never done that before and he did even bark. It was his first time meeting them both, but as soon as we handed over the leash he was fine. The technician could even trim his nails, which I was very surprised about. We thought that it might have been the position (them standing and us sitting) what could have caused him being protective. Not a big deal, but interesting to observe. Both of them were extremely professional and dealt with it correctly.

I see the half antler there. lol They seem to always be in every one of my shots too. The bed looks great.

Thanks, Steven. You are right about the antler. I also bought him the mega/giant bone from Amazon that Boxergirl had recommended in another posting. It‘s huge, but he seems to really like it. Just watch your feet, as they like to drop it in front of you. Not a nice feeling when this mega bone falls on your feet.

It might of also been him testing to see what he could get away with. Kryten has done it in the past when he was protesting something he didn't want done. The first time (nail trim) that he did it the techition got scared and refused to trim his nails. Every time after that it was done to someone who could correctly interpret dog behavior and realized that it was a front, not aggression, and when told to stop he did. He was just trying to find out if he had to accept things that he didn't want to.

Quick update - 33 weeks (today). He‘s 30 inches tall and weighs exactly 150 lbs. His neck is 27 inches. By when can we expect growth to slow down? It really hasn‘t so far :). Thank you all for the nice comments and great advice.

He's huge!!

As the owners, we don‘t necessarily realize it as much. However, people who don‘t see him frequently would say the same thing. We really keep him line and his body type is ideal according to the vet, but their fast growth sometimes scares me a bit. There are some big/heavy boys in his pedigree, but nothing crazily out of the norm.

He's beautiful. Are you still thinking about getting a Neo? Bane seems so laid back. I bet he would do great with a pup
