I have just started raw 5 days now... I should start slow but if there wanting more should I give it to them?... pit zeke 5 years old 75 lbs he gets 1/2 lb turkey neck 3/4 lb turkey hearts 2x a day so 1 lb neck 1 1/2 lb hearts.. romeo I dont know what his max weight will be being a male neo/english mastiff mix maybe 200-250 says the breeder so at 200 he needs 6 lbs 250 7.5 lbs I have been giving him 1/2 lb neck. 1 1/4 lb hearts so 1 lb neck 2 1/2 lb hearts so should I up romeo forsures meat intake maybe 2lbs hearts more or 1 1/2 more? Maybe add more neck depending on how loose the stool is? And zeke begs for more should I up his his up to 4-5% body wieght by adding maybe 1/2-3/4 lb more heart or ahould I wait tell I add another meat source? Thanks for any help and feedback

Use your eyes. Are they fat or skinny? If they are on the skinny side then by all means add some more meat. A word of caution, it has been my experience that feeding raw can put weight on them pretty fast. IMO, I would rather have a slim dog than a fat dog.

Thanks.. ill stick with feeding zeke the same.. he could lose a little not mmuch though... hes been on pills for allergies side effect I seen was he gained weight... and romeo hes 7 months lots of energy so ill probably up his to 5lbs a day see where that goes.. 2 days after I got him he somehow got a joint infection so I dont want him to get fat at all atleast tell his bones can handle a little more weight less stress on them joints the better I need to start adding vit c and something else with the synergy regimine they get every meal

I'm not sure what synergy is. I give chicken feet for treats it's great for their joints. Don't forget that treats can add weight so make sure that if you start giving them as treats you will want to adjust what you feed at meal time.

Just curious, why are you feeding so many hearts? Are you going to do this long term? Hearts are pretty high in fat content.

Yes I will be doing this long term and on my assumption and advice was the turkey hearts were a good starting protien there about 70/30 protien/fat ratio... and I will be swapping hearts out for another source of protien in 1_2 weeks

Sounds like a solid plan. Try to work some other muscle meat in too. Hearts are great. When you get further along try some green tripe. Stinks but dogs love it and it is good for them.

Your math looks right to me (80-10-10). Note also that of the 10% organs, 5% is recommended to be liver. Liver has all sorts of good vitamins and minerals in it. I've started eating more liver myself, since we get some good grass-fed lamb liver in bulk for Denna. :) Our mainstay for the other 5% is kidney, but I try and mix in anything else I can find, too.

As for feeding more... I'd recommend you go slow. Maybe just 3-4oz more for a few days... keep checking body condition. Denna puts on "padding" in a week or two if we over-do her portions. We had to cut her meals down for summer time. She doesn't like to move much when it's over 75F out (and in, we don't have A/C here). But, she also still wants "more"....

And, yes - loose poops: add bone-in cuts (i.e. necks). Or cut back on portions...the opposite of what the pups are asking for, of course! And give it some time to regulate in the systems.
Sounds like you're right on track!

Thanks alot... ill be adding liver first... then from there ill add other organ week or 2 after adding liver to get to the 10%.. im trying to figure out what im gonna put on my next co-op order it coming quick... I will keep turkey neck as my bone and ill replace some hearts with maybe pork rump or some lean beef or something ill keep hearts in the mix just gotta find something a little more leaner to add in.. ill add venison in a few months in I dont know if I should start with that being my 2nd protien knowing ill be able to get quite a bit here soon hunting seasons coming up... if anyone knows a good site to show fat/protien ratios that would be cool... thanks for the input good to know im doing somewhat alright with this so far.. I am really enjoying this though.. and seperating stuff is easy I weigh out monthly.. I like it grat change
