My poor Sacci is sick :-(

The puppy shows no symptoms. I've read and been told conflicting things: puppies can get sick within hours of exposure vs. an incubation period of 4 days. I know for a fact, Sacci was not exposed to any other dogs 4 days prior and we had not been anywhere but school. Then my husband brought home the puppy Tuesday afternoon. Wednesday evening was when she stopped eating; vomiting started yesterday afternoon, diarrhea today. As far as I know, she only threw up 3 times.

i know the incubation is 10 days, and the virus can be from your shoes or someone who visited you... As I said, don't blame yourself or the new puppy, thinks like this just happen.

Sacci seems a little better this morning. She's very well hydrated. The IV dose I gave her at 4:00 am still hasn't been absorbed all the way and her gums are nice and pink.

When I checked on her at 8 this morning, she came out of her kennel to greet me, even wagged her stumpy tail a little. She laid her head on my lap and wanted to be hugged. She'd barely let me touch her last night.

She had a horrible diarrhea accident in her kennel but there was very little blood, a really good sign!

Oh, the new pup is scrappy as ever! We are keeping Sacci on the back porch, since most of our house is carpeted. The puppy is isolated to my girls' rooms where Sacci is never allowed to go. We take hi, to the front yard to potty, since Sacci only goes in the back.

I'm just not sure how long we have to keep them separated...

Sacci's up and moving! She even tried playing with our blue Heeler a little bit.

She still won't eat anything. I haven't seen her drink, but I did see water dripping from her muzzle. I watched her pee normally, too!! I'm still giving her the IV fluids until I see her drinking regularly.

I wiped as much diarrhea off her as I could with paper towels and bleach water this morning. But I finally gave her a bath this afternoon because she was miserable with flies buzzing around her.

All in all, things are looking up. I am in awe of my Mighty God for answering my prayers!

Today, Sacci has an appetite! She gobbled down a couple ounces of boiled chicken and broth. She didn't even notice the bright blue pill hidden in the chicken. She even drank water afterward. I was so excited, I cried! There was no diarrhea in her kennel, so it seems the uncontrollable diarrhea is gone.

I can't believe how quickly she has recovered! I am so thankful and feel so blessed! Thank you all for being here to help us through this!

Oh, Wendylu, I'm so glad to hear that she's coming along. I was really afraid when you said there had been a dead possum in the yard. I heard a show a few months back where they said possums carry TB! Horrifying. But, Parvo...it's every dog owner's nightmare, and you've already been through so much in your life. I can only pray for you and your little Sacci and I will. And you are right, He Is A Mighty God. Blessings Upon You and Your Family, both two- and four-legged.

Elizabeth.

Sacci is almost back to normal! She refused the boiled chicken, but ate 3 cups of her usual kibble today. She usually eats 4-6 cups, depending on her activity and growth spurts. She was bouncing around and seemed so happy!

I had to leave the house today for blood work. When I got home, I saw she had torn a hole in her new bed. Yep, she's feeling much better! *

Our tiny baby has parvo now. He's almost 7 weeks old but is fighting hard. We took him to the vet last night to rule out any other problems. He's already improved so much that he's eating and drinking on his own.

This picture is of him curves up with Sacci before he got sick.
