My lovely Greta

Not sure how many Corso owners there are on this forum but either way, this is my little Grarebear (Greta). She's 7 months old and weighs 80 lbs currently. I got her from Payse Puckett of Colossal Cane Corso, Sire is Colossal's Bravo La Starza and Dam is Colossal's Beautiful Bella Of Weldon. Greta is one of the sweetest, most loving dogs I have ever had. One of the things people always say about Corso's is how much they love their family and want to be as close as they physically can get and that is not even close to describing them haha. You don't get privacy with this breed, period. They follow you everywhere you go, even the bathroom lol. Great guarding instinct, but not aggressive by any means. She knows when to protect and when to be a good girl. When strangers come up to me to inquire she typically stands her ground and surveys them, if i greet with a positive disposition then she's totally cool but if i'm apprehensive or show negativity then she will let the stranger know not to come any closer to her "Daddy" haha. She's great with children (absolutely loves my daughter to death) and even with her 6 lb Shorkie, knows when to be gentle with them. They can be a challenge in training, very hard headed and will test their boundaries. You need to be stern but know when to draw a line b/c they can be quite sensitive as well. They HATE being away from their owner and I can attest to that. I've been crate training Greta since the day she arrived (13 weeks old) and she still despises the thing. Whenever its time for me to go to work she knows and tries everything she can to get out of going in the crate. Gets along very well with other dogs, especially her "sister" Dharma (5 and 1/2 year old APBT) and they are the best of friends. Okay i'll stop rambling about my beloved Corso and show some pics :)

Day she arrived at 13 weeks old, 31 lbs

Present day, 7 months old (I forget how many weeks exactly, would have to check) and 80 lbs now

Thank you! I'm so thrilled with how well the 2 get along, that was my biggest fear getting another dog b/c Dharma has been my only dog since i got her and while a good girl I expected some jealousy. She took to her very quickly and I've never had any real incidents between the two. It's funny, Greta became the alpha of the pair almost overnight and Dharma just lets her do whatever she wants to her and takes it like a champ. Nowadays Greta actually looks out for her, will protect her if necessary. Had an incident at the dog park the other day when an unstable dog went after Dharma and Greta would have none of it, by the time i got over to break it all up Greta had pinned the other dog to the ground and was holding it down so her Sis could escape the situation. Nobody was hurt, Dharma had a small cut on her lip but nothing big deal. I was a proud daddy :)

Cute :) There are tons of CC owners in this forum :)

Thanks! Glad to hear it, its rare in person when i come across a CC owner....most people have no clue what they are. Most of the time people think she's some sort of boxer mix....i have to tell them that she will dwarf a boxer in size in the end haha

There are a couple pitty/corso households on here :) One of our puppies went to one and the same thing happened... she walked in the door the male pitty rolled over and that was it they have been good ever since.

There are a lot of us on here but where a lot of us actually live there aren't a lot of people who have a clue what the breed is :)

Forgive my crappy use of quoting, i suck at html even though i'm fairly decent at SQL (go figure lol).

That's exactly what happened with my 2 girls, I guess Dharma just knew this was a battle she just wouldn't win in the end so immediately rolled over.

She looks so annoyed in this pic when i brought Greta home, i still laugh at this photo

By my count only 2 people have actually known what the breed is by looking. Some people have "heard" of it but never seen one in real life. I have never actually met someone that had one face to face outside of Greta's breeder. I guess that's a good thing, all we need is a bunch of people jumping on the bandwagon and turning them into another media nightmare like so many other breeds.....

There are lots of people in our area jumping on the band wagon, we have a couple of breeders to thank for that :( with puppies coming out every 8 mths or so from them. We go to shows with a couple of others and we all hang out but there aren't a lot of people that are at all active with their dogs :(

It's sad, some people just see dogs as a money making scheme and nothing else. I hate it but thus is life i guess.

I'm quite obsessive with the amount of time i spend with my dogs, 2 long walks daily plus at least 2 trips to the dog park if not more if i can muster up the time/energy. Even now i feel guilty today b/c they didn't get out as much as i'd like b/c it poured down rain around here and I can tell they're pent up. I came home to Greta wailing from the thunder and Dharma wouldn't leave my side until it stopped. Some people just don't get that dogs are more than just an animal they can leave and essentially forget about in their yard. I have a neighbor that has at least 3 pits and 2 boxers, i have never seen them outside of their pen (which is outside) and they all seem so miserable and wanting of attention. Neighbor claims to be a dog lover but to me, if you truly love your dog you don't leave them outside like that all day and night. They are companion animals and need their owner to be truly happy.

Welcome to the board and thanks for sharing the pics!

The CC are becoming popular up here too. There are 5 of them that are routinely at the dog park, and I've seen a couple of others at the pet stores.

Beautiful dogs, and welcome aboard. I am on my 2nd Corso. My first one passed at 12 years, and now we have a Male Pup at 5 months. He is a bit over 60 pounds.

Welcome to the forum :) great pack you have there!
We are lucky I guess, have a pretty good CC community here.
Many actively showing in the CKC, working, training... A wide variety of venues. Plus we meet up for dog walks every now and then. For some reason the dog parks seem to empty when we show up with 5 or 6 + Corso :D
Unfortunately there are also a HUGE amount of BYB's and shady, I mean really shady, breeders around as well.
Is hard to watch the CC going down the same road as so many other breeds have...

So lucky, i would love to have a fellow Corso owner around me. Still waiting on one to show up haha.

I have been seeing more and more BYB Corso breeders pop up on Craigslist, just sad. Some of them don't even look right...i would guess they're mixed but an uneducated person probably wouldn't know. Ugh just sucks, i just keep hoping they don't end up on the same list Pits are.
