My dog is so much braver than I am

I can't take it anymore. Have scheduled a vet appt for this evening. I can't take watching Cane try to be the beautiful, loyal companion that is his nature to be while his bones are rotting away with cancer and every move causes him pain. I'm just not as brave as he is. But I will try to be a strong friend to the end so he doesn't feel like he has to support me while we're waiting at the vet's office. Then I'll fall apart in the stupid parking lot.

He knew. He's never been hesitant to go into the exam room but there was a blanket on the floor and he didn't want to go in. But he was such an obedient boy he did as I asked and went in. I know it needed to be done. I hate this. He really was perfect.

Just wanted to thank everyone again. I knew that Cane was a special dog but I'm hearing every day how special. We have a small roadside mom & pop place and our customers are starting to come in and ask where's Cane and they just hate to learn that he's gone. It'll be a long summer, having to repeat over and over again that he is dead but I'll hear over and over again how wonderful everyone thought he was. So, guess it all balances out. He was loved as much as he loved.
