Mastiffs and heat

How are your mastiffs coping with heat? My girl isnt liking it, it is rough days ahead of us and my girl cant wait colder days.

Kryten loves the cold and hates the heat. Anything above 20C (68F) and it is too hot for him to want to be doing anything outside except lounging. I do have a white coat that I put on him if he does need to be outside and it really helps keep him cooler as the sun reflects rather than be absorbed by his black fur.

I would definitely agree with the 68 degree threshold. Actually, the cooler the better. We get high humidity levels, which makes matters worse. AC is definitely a must.

Our dogs sure like to go outside, but the cool air in the house is welcoming, for sure. When I take them for a leashless run out-of-doors, the dogs are huffing and puffing when I get them back in the car. To conclude, I think the 68 to 70 degree F temp is preferable to the mastiffs.

Denna starts panting and slowing down when it's over about 65F... but when it hits 90F and the sun is out, you'll find her sunbathing on the hot fake grass (it gets scorching in sunshine)...so... I'd say she likes heat, she just doesn't like to MOVE in hot weather.

Bella doesn't do well in the heat here....we have a lot of humility here.....So we do live out in the country so far we haven't needed the ac on as we open our windows at night with fans drawing the hot air out and another drawing the cool air in.... first thing in the morning we close up the house.... it stays cool enough that I will normally have slippers and a sweater on.
Bella stays in the house from late morning until the air cools off in the late afternoon or early evening. So far we're good with this routine

Hotter than Hell here in London today. It's been a scorcher all week, and the air conditioner at work was not working right until Friday. Thursday I was wearing liquified clothing (ugh.) And our AC at home has been going full blast for weeks. Poor Bailey wants to go out, but she suffers if we are out for more than a few minutes. Walks have been limited to early mornings or around 8:30-9:00 pm, and even then she comes home panting so hard and collapses on the cool floor. She's also off her feed. It's hard to even get one meal into her right now. She's not even into her cookies! Add the humidity with all the thunderstorms and downpours and it is ultra uncomfortable.

The good news! The weather is supposed to break some time tomorrow and the next week will be very doable! Looking forward to it...AMEN!

Goodness I hope you get some cooler weather soon! We had a scorching hot weekend but since I can't handle anything over 69 degrees right now with the pregnancy that means my dogs get to live in our frosty cool house indoors too. The husband takes them outside for play time but on the hot days they kind of just collapse in the grass and lay there. As soon as things get a little cooler here I think we will be seeing lots of zoomies.

It's been crazy hot here too. Yesterday we had a big cool down and I was able to open the windows and get some fresh air in here. It's supposed to stay around 80 until the weekend. The dogs are thrilled. Otis in particular needed to work off some steam in the back yard.

Finn hates moving in the heat, but doesn't mind sunbathing. We compete in nosework, although I've really limited his summer trials. We have a lot of portable fans, misters, cooling coats, and aluminet for summer trials.

Much better this week, but we are still keeping our walks to mornings and evening before sundown. I've been working in my sister's garden and Bailey loves it there, but, every hour or so begs to go in the house and "chill out." Lots of water and a trip to Wendy's for a frosty keeps us in the cool.
