Kahlua is sick of resting and her cone

Poor Kahlua is hating her cone of shame and she is hating being on bed rest. I won't let her wrestle with Diesel. I won't let her run excessively. I won't let her jump. I won't let her rip out her stitches. I won't let Diesel rip out her stitches. And when she brings me her football I take it away.

Life is so unfair!

She also feels that it is unfair that I don't appreciate her amazing Houdini skills. She managed to escape her crate while wearing the cone. Either we forgot to latch the bottom latch on one of her doors or she managed to unlatch it and she somehow squeezed out the bottom while the top was still locked.... all while wearing her cone! We found her outside of the crate with the crate still latched shut and her still in her cone.
Miss Houdini for sure.

Escaping from a latched crate with a cone on is an admirable feat. I am impressed. How much longer will she have to wear the cone?

Kahluadini! She'll amaze you with her feats of escapism, watch as she gets out of a locked room while tied down with a cumbersome neck-torture device. Abracadabra! She's out. Watch as her parents scratch their heads in disbelief! Kahluadini, appearing nightly, get your tickets now!

I suggest investing in a game camera...pointed at the cage. She must have an accomplice or...an assistant! The Amazing Kahluadini and her assistant, Diesel!

When I got home from work she had not escaped the crate. But she had destroyed her bed in protest.

And then after cleaning it up, doing our potty breaks and feeding them. I dared to take a shower. By the time I was out of the shower she had escaped her crate again and after escaping had ripped off and destroyed her cone. She broke all the attachment pieces so it was not able to be reattached to the collar and closed.

And yes that is her collar in front of her... she managed to get that off as well.

Luckily my husband is a hoarder and he had saved Diesel's old cone.... So we put Diesel's cone on her. It is a little too big but it works just fine. Here's to hoping that it is still on her and she is still crated when I get home today.

Tomorrow the stitches come out and the cone goes away... Thank goodness!

One more day! WhooHoo!
Cones SUCK.
She looks soooooo happy and proud of herself in that cone-less picture. :)

We were lucky, Denna never bothered her stitches... maybe one lick, and one "leave it"... and then, nothing. I work from home, so could keep tabs on her... but she did great.
So glad Kahlua survived her cone-head-days, here's to hoping those were her last!

She was so proud of herself too.
I was glad that after Kryten's second surgery he didn't need a cone because he couldn't reach the incision site to lick it. His cone after the first surgery didn't fit through doorways so his solution, if you were not fast enough, was to just push until the cone gave. He also did that if the cone hit your legs before his head reached you.

We have to double padlock Axel's crate so he doesn't escape. It's ridiculous.
