Just wondering how Cane Corso's handle the heat?

Try to research what other people do with there Mastiffs in those states? Probably limited activity during the day & just let them adjust to it. We dog lovers may just worry too much.

You are right, they probably do whatever we do just all year long (high energy bills).

We are from Alabama (incredibly oppressive heat and humidity) but now live in Virginia (slightly better). Rhaegar can't tolerate the heat at all. Anything over 75 and sunny is too hot. We walk first thing in the morning, and last thing at night. We only hike or go on outings near water, utilize baby pools and sprinklers during the day, and use cooling mats and the Ruffwear Swamp Cooler frequently. The Swamp Cooler does not work as well in high humidity though.

Oh I wish Lettie would tolerate water :(. Life would be easier for both of us! We set up a kiddie pool and threw her toys in it. She walks around and waits for them to float to the edge, won’t even stick a toe in. We set up a small sprinkler on the lowest water pressure. Then we played fetch around it. She tip toed around and timed it so she didn’t have to touch water . It’s going to be a loooonnggg summer.

It's humid here in South Louisiana. Like Vietnam humid! CAO are known for being very adaptable to harsh climates. Maybe I've ruined him by being indoors, cause Logan is not liking the humidity! And it hasn't gotten horrible yet. We are limiting time outdoors. Going out in morning and evening. Short potty trips in between. We are moving next week, and the dog kennel is great, it has two huge fans built on top, and a watering nipple so access to fresh water at all times. My husband said he thinks the fans are cool misting, but not sure. That will make being outside a lot more tolerable

We have used kiddie pools for all our other dogs, but I don't know if Logan will use it. Like Lettie, he hates water :(

The ruffwear swamp cooler arrived yesterday. I took a video of Lettie using it today! Thanks for the recommendation, Boxergirl!

I found a way to get Logan to like the hose, and get a bath.... *Louisiana summer* !! He was hot and really enjoyed getting hosed. So I took advantage of him being soaked and slipped some shampoo on him :D

Yeah, *Indiana summer* is only making Lettie miserable . There have been a couple 95 degree days that I thought she might let me spray her. I turned the hose down as much as it would go and she tucked her tail and ran away. Ugh. I’m glad you got Logan to tolerate a little water though :D.

She is okay with the vest. This video was at her “grandparents” house. She LOVES playing outside there, so we figured that would be the best time to try it out. So we slipped it on and let her loose! She does fine with it while running around playing. It did significantly shorten her “recovery” time after playing, she stopped panting much faster. I also slipped my hand under it, her body was much cooler under the vest than it was on her head and neck. We tried to put it on her when we got home and she tried to reach around and pull it off. But over all, so far, I’m very pleased with it and I think it was worth the money :D!

Oh, good! I'm glad you like it. I think that even though some of the products from Ruffwear are a bit pricey, everything is made very well and I have yet to replace anything I've purchased from them.

So, I figured out a home remedy how to cool her down. This past weekend, we went to the dog park, it was cloudy kinda cooler. At the dog park, the sun came out & it got hot as h*ll. anyway, once home, she was panting and so over heated (we walk to & from dog park, it's only a block away from home) but it got really HOT... so she laid down on kitchen floor ( had AC on) but she was definitely over heated. I got wash clothes & rinsed them under cold water & laid them on her and on her belly & under her arms. These wash clothes got hot fast, so just kept rinsing them under cold water & cooling her off with them.
It worked...her panting subsided & her body cooled down & then she wanted to eat. woah...I can't believe how how these dogs get. She has a very black coat as well. all okay...o_O

so far the biggest problem to walk on concrete or asphalt in 90+F. Poor dog pulling to the shadow, to the grass to avoid hot surfaces so we started to go to the parks with old tall trees where almost always shade.
he has no problem to play in the backyard in the heat but he runs on the grass there. Quiet time after that for 2-3 h !

Thanks for the feedback. It's been very hot in NJ. It goes from one extreme to another. I take Zeela out through the woods to the dog park late in the afternoon, I try to get her out so she gets use to the heat & of course I make sure she doesn't overheat to the point of a heatstroke. I think I am going to heatstroke out before her. Lol. No joke.

We wound up buying an Intex pool (12 feet x30in) for our dogs for the summer. They get in at the beginning of our walk, and then again at the end to cool off. I know that's not helpful for those dogs who aren't into water, but I thought some other members might find it useful!
