  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

Just saying

Well, we typically only keep meat in it. That's about what we eat in a year. I also like to keep the green chile frozen in there. It's not like ALL of it is in there all at once. It's a cycle pretty much.

You have successfully converted your hubs to raw feeding when he knows what to bring home after a long trip away:) No, not flowers or chocolate, but deer legs and scraps of course! LOL

So, I've officially lost my mind. I just sliced and ground 10 lbs of green tripe! The stench was horrifying lol

It has its own special aroma!! When I get fresh I do it outside. With the preground we slice the tubes into frozen cookies and then bag those to just toss into the bowls at meal time. Much better smelling now that weather outside means we have to feed it inside.

I'm starting to worry a bit. I've talked with the local butcher's inspector and I think he may allow, for 1 or 2 killing days a month, a bucket for my organs and tripe. I would have to pick it up fresh and bring it home to clean and bag. Makes me crazy nervous

It isn't that difficult. I do invert and rinse the stomach of most of the undigested grass before I slice into strips. Plenty of the green bits do get caught in the little wrinkles so don't worry you'll rinse it too much. It does smell and I do it well away from the house. Dogs go crazy when they get a whiff and have to stay inside or I'd never get any into the freezer. A very sharp knife or scissors is a must. There are a couple of YouTube videos to give you the general idea but I promise it really isn't that difficult to do fresh.

So I finally made it out to pick up poo after 2 months. November kinda sucked for us and I forgot:( so 3 dogs, totaling around 215lbs, raw fed and it was almost a 5 gallon bucket worth. I'm thinking that is a LOT of poo! I'd hate to see the amount would have been otherwise if we fed differently. Lol

Just one bucket? No, that's not a lot of poo. You're not so far from me, so we have similar winters. I've learned to clean up as they go to avoid poop soup in the spring. Long ago I raw fed and it was lovely. Now I get 3/4 of a five gallon bucket of poo every week for two smallish boxers and one smallish EM.

Yikes!! I'll be happy with my 1 bucket;) lol

Yes, I need to adjust to big dogs again. The last ten years I would skip the winter months and only have a plastic grocery bag full. That was only 45 lbs of dog though. Imagine if I fed them raw! I could have skipped half the dang year! Hahahaha
