Juno's first heat cycle

A few days ago Juno was on the bed and I noticed a little reddish discharge. Since then she has been cleaning herself more and her girl parts are a little more swollen. She is just a few days shy of 11 months and a 100lbs. Does this seem like an average time for a CC to start her heat? I tried researching online but it seems like it varies a lot with age. I thought it might be a little more consistent by the breed. I also see a lot of different information on the best time to have a female fixed. Some say wait for one heat cycle some say 2 some say it doesn't matter? any input would be appreciated

It seems like it varies a lot even within the breeds. My girls an EM and get hers at 14 months. If you can wait til 18 months to spay, please do!

Thanks for the info. Its not a problem to hold off. Not a big deal to put the panties on with the pads. Do you know approximately how long they are fertile for from the start of the heat? I am going to refrain from taking her to the dog park until she is well past that time.

I don't envy you right now at all. I expect to have to go through this with my 5 month old Bella anytime in the next 7 months, and I am praying for later rather than sooner!! I live smack dab in the city, and am dreading the confinement this is going to cause. Good luck :)
