I have the Ruffwear Front Range, my dog didn't even pull and I used it sparingly for nosework and it didn't hold up. I definitely wouldn't rely on the front hook to restrain a dog at all. I do like the Ruffwear Webmaster harness, but I use it for hiking, it has no "no pull" component. You could try the Perfect Fit, Freedom, or Balance Harness. I find they help a little, but not that much, with my dogs. Its hard to fit Danes and Dobermans as they have small necks and waists and large chests.

As an aside, any management tool you use only works because it makes the dog uncomfortable, and all of them can injure your dog. Shoulder injuries with harnesses, neck injuries with head halters and regular and training collars.

Scorning, do you have a Perfect Fit? Boxers are hard to fit for the same reasons as the Danes and Dobes. I haven't purchased one yet, but the ability to order the separate components to fit the individual dog seemed like a great option for my deep chested boys.

What do you mean it didnt hold up? Did it broke off? How are those webmaster? I did see other models only after i bought front range ,and webmaster looks feels or better say looks stronger. My dog isnt that much puller also but when she sees a dog that she doesnt like she gets little wild sometimes and my concern then is that it doesnt break not on the hooks but on that stiched side belts.

Front Range - The padded part on our harness started to rip in multiple places, I think it was probably a fit issue. I never used the front clip, if I remember correctly, it was just fabric or plastic, would never hold my dog if he wanted to go. The backclip was very secure though and didn't have issues with the belts, although my Dane barely fit it in the chest when it was fully extended.

Webmaster - I love these harnesses. I've had them for years and they wear well. I use them when hiking with my dogs. I especially like the handle on the back. I have the removeable saddle bags that attach to them so the dogs can carry their own stuff. Very adjustable and the pressure is more evenly distributed than other harnesses, but no front clrip.

My daughter has the Webmaster for her service dog in training. It's a great harness. If you don't use the front clip on the Front Range, then I would highly suggest the Webmaster.

webmaster on two different dogs, but same harness, very adjustable and durable, I've had this one for more than 5 years.

I used a Sprang collar when walking Mr. Chev...I hold that leash and Joyce holds a leash on a regular red collar on Coal the black Labrador. As far as the prong collar goes, yes, they might look a bit bad, but I surely agree with April. We are the "alpha's" and having a 200 pound dog pulling is not what one wants. The collar, although not maybe the best thing (I don't know of anything better to discourage "pulling"), does keep one fairly sane. Have a great weekend, all.002.JPG

So front range isnt that strong after all just as i suspected. So you are pleased with webmaster if it can hold your dogs then it is well tested :) to bad that i didnt see webmaster before i bought front range but i will see for now if this works if not i will buy webmaster. Only one thing as you did mention before about shoulder injuries ,which one front range or webmaster are less rough for dogs shoulders if they tend to pull very hard sometimes?

I believe the shoulder injuries come from the no pull harnesses that restrict front end movement. Like the Easy Walk. The ones made like those suggested - Balance, Freedom, Perfect Fit, Front Range - they aren't made the same way. The ones like the easy walk pinch the front shoulders together.
