I've Officially Gone Insane

I've been thinking about it a lot and I've decided that Mac and I both need another girl in our lives. I've become a much more active person and I've geared my life to becoming more active (and in turn lost a solid 50lbs), I have hiking, camping, lake trips planned for all summer and while Mac will be very good company most of the time with this, he is my homebody companion and I already can tell that he just isn't cut out for joining me on my morning runs or eventually getting to go bike with me, I can't even bring myself to expect that of him for fear of hurting him. I have always wanted a mastiff and he is solidly my family companion and home protector but I also have such a desire for a companion to get out and just GO with, if anyone understands that. So today I have decided to adopt a female german shepherd/husky mix. Her name is Rae and she will be coming home some time tomorrow and I will have pictures of her posted soon after. I'm keeping myself optimistic about raising and training two puppies. I have my concerns, just because Mac is a hard headed slightly dominate male, but she seems to be a kind of middle-of-the-ways girl so hopefully it'll all work out good!

Good for you!! Looking forward to seeing photos! I can see where you might like a companion for your keeping fit! My husband and I are very active too and I definitely don't see our EM as a Running companion or even going on a 4 mile walk. Just curious.....I work 5-1/2 hours a day outside the home and I am exhausted from on 9 week old puppy and 3 teenage sons! Do you work outside the home or are you home full time?

Congrats on the weight loss I need to get my butt in gear and start back up. Even though Thor is a GD is not a runner 10 minutes and he's done. Biking along side of me is also out the question, but that's fine walking works. Also congrats on your new girl, huskies have a lot of energy so you two sound like it will be a perfect match. Can't wait to see pictures.

Good for you! Tho I do think you're taking on alot of responsibility. Do you have help? I find as a 'single parent" of 2 large breed dogs, it's hard to divide the time between them both. At least they are entering the geriatric stage of life, altho my 13 year old lab/pit mix is still able to run with me!

I work full time but I work about five minutes from home and I come home on my breaks. I'm also kind of a homebody and if I do leave I bring Mac, and soon Rae, everywhere I can. Rae will actually help motivate me to get off the computer a bit more hahaha!!

Congrats on weight loss and new baby! I used to have a Siberian Husky, best dog I ever had. I lost him 3 yrs ago. Hardest loss for me to date. :( I also lost 50 lbs 3 yrs ago, quit smoking and put back on 25 lbs. :(

Again, congrats to you!

I have a 5 month EM, Kryten and a 15 month Irish Setter X, Jiggers. Jiggers is definitely the one that keeps me on my toes trying to make sure his needs are met. I agree with the officially insane, welcome to the club.

Congrats on everything!!! Mac, weight loss, and now Rae. That is clever thinking about a more active dog for motivation. I wish I had thought of that. Half of the attraction to our EM was that we could stay home, work in the yard or house, and she would just sit there by me no problem. It has worked, but I also haven't lost any weight. You will have your hands full and will absolutely need a good schedule, but I am sure you will do great. Please post pics of your growing family.

Yeah! I figure me and Rae (when shes old enough)can go out and get all nice and tired before Mac even wakes up! He sleeps until about 8:30-9 every morning lmbo. I'm usually up around 5. It helps having a boyfriend in a crazy different time zone waking me up though hahaha!

Yikes, 5!?! as in a.m????? ugh, the only time I ever got up that early was when I had babies that needed to be fed or if the hospital called me in, and then I even questioned them on if they REALLY needed me. LOL Yeah, my Mamie will pass out at night around 10pm and then sleep til about 8am, go potty, eat breakfast, then nap. SHe is horrible!!!! Good thing I am not a morning person and I have the same routine. We are a perfect pair. how old is Rae??7
