This is the big argument that I have been trying to tell you about. The original Boerboels are more like the Hound Type found in the Piona line, then Ysterberg came in and everyone started liking the Bull Mastiff type. All the other types follow this outwards. If you mix the ysterberg lines with the Piona lines you start seeing the other two types of Boerboel. Dopper, Mouzer, Grasland and Gretchen are some of the original lines. For me it is Piona x Dopper, with only a little Ysterberg. This is what Jade is and I think it is a well rounded dog. The Heavy Ysterberg like Atraxia in Australia are just too big, heavy and bulky for my tast. But if you look at the BBs being turned out in Russia you will see bigger muscular dogs with great agility and stamina. I think the BB Club in Russia follows a tighter dog standard and will not allow the BS to change the breed. Look at other breeds in Russia and you will see the same thing, a strict breed standard following.

Not really. I have a pic of Jade with Remington and Wendy and you can see Remy is as big but a deeper chest and much smaller head than any BB you would ever find. I will try to find the bic of them side by side.

Ok couldn't add the pic but this is close. Remy has less chest to the sides but more underneath, RR are good runners because of this deep chest BBs are less inclined to run and are just more powerful overall.

Not only is it a mess now but it is getting worse because of the want for black BBs and huge BBs. These damn bull dog crossed BBs are a joke and now people are actually starting to see that the Ysterberg is not a true full bred BB, put since appraisals only require 75% conformity to be registered as a BB these breeders get away with it.

Black BB are Fake, mongrels is what they are being called and some of the SAB/SABT org officers are selling them. From Ysterbergs own website they say they did not like the way the ORG and founders were going and went back to breeding their own breed of dog.
Here is a quote directly from the old Ysterberg website.

They never really call their dogs Boerboels they call them Ysterberg Mastiffs.

question for you, mike... so if 2 acceptable colored bbs produce a litter of 10, 7 are standard red or fawn, 2 are brindle and one is black, the black one, although it shared the same parentage as the others, is not considered a "real" BB? i mean that sincerely, (if i was being a smart ass youd know it..lol). im very curious. i could see not being to register it, as its not an "acceptable color", but would it really be looked at as a mutt? now, what if it started out black but as it aged it developed some brindling and ended up being a black brindle like Pax (i guess thats what youd call it). would it then be an acceptable dog? im wondering because my tastes tend to run toward the "unusual" so i really like the black and piebald BBs even though they arent "correct".

next question... so a BB from ysterberg lines, although not truly a pure BB, would be registered as such if it were to appraise well? are ysterberg lines respected in the BB community?
