At 2 30 am Lupo started barking. The dogs sleep inside, and he only barks if something is there, especially at night.. in the city we can be sure it's a human. So we went outside to check what was going on. One assumes that if the big dog barks and lights go on that intruders will leave. The car was open, and a leatherman stolen. Lupo did a lot of intense sniffing, so we could see where the intruder had been. He also barked at the gate. We went back inside, and after a while he barked again. We let him out and he rushed the gate madly. This was the first time we have had an intruder on the property since getting him and we weren't reading him well. My husband brought him in, thinking he would wake the neighborhood.. we fell back asleep. The next day we discovered the gate leading under our house had been broken into and a bike stolen. We asked our neighbor across the street to check their CCTV and saw that while we were outside, 2 guys were lying on the roof of our neighborhood s garage, looking down on us. And the bike was taken when we were back asleep.
So we've learned a lot, installing beams and light sensors, got the paintball gun with hard plastic balls ready. We also not going to be letting Lupo out if he hears something, we not going out , rather press panic button. Crime in SA was bad before lockdown, our unemployment rate at 30% before lockdown. We went into lockdown when we had 6 infections, very early. We still hitting our peak but economy has to open up otherwise the starving will become worse. I think unemployment rate is above 50% now. We expecting crime to become very bad. A friend of mine had 4 breakins in 2 weeks. Another 3 in 1 week. I think local robbers know about Lupo as this is pur first one. We certainly dont have to worry about home invasion to be very likely...
