Introducing Ourselves

Hello everyone, I have been reading and absorbing all of the amazing information and advice on here for quite a few months now. The day before Easter this year we unfortunately had to put our sweet DDB, Douglas down. He was the biggest love and most gentle soul I have had the privilege of owning. Our heart was broken. Before we had Douglas come into our lives, we knew we were very taken with the Cane Corso breed but wanted to be sure we were experienced enough to own one and give it the life it deserved. Our experience at the time was our boxer, Deja Vu. We lost Deja to old age a few years back. After some debate we decided that we were ready for our CC. We ended up with a beautiful, sweet black boy we named Mucielago, we call him Lago for short. Lago has been an absolute joy along with a tremendous amount of work. He is 23 weeks today and last week was at 65 lbs. We love seeing his progress. He was in private puppy training at first because of the pandemic. He is almost finished with his beginner class and is moving to the intermediate. I am hoping to do therapy work with him if all goes well. We are in southern Maine, there is a lot of places we like to explore, the beach being his current favorite. I am hoping I can add some pictures of our guy to share along with a picture of Douglas. I am not super tech savvy, so bear with me. Thank you all for all of the great information and advice.

Wonderful little fellow.... And the last picture is of Douglas? Sweet face. I wish your heart healing over that loss. Someone said to me recently that they felt their old dog had brought their new dog to them...made the introduction so that their hearts would not be heavy when he left. I like that. Best of luck with your little man.

Thank you both for your kind words. I agree with the thought of the old dog leading us to our new dog. It’s funny, they look nothing alike but Lago will remind me of Douglas, and I will slip up their name. So different yet so similar. Yes, that last picture was of Douglas :)
Lago just started his intermediate training last Wednesday and really is enjoying that. It has been a joy and is fulfilling to have watched him go from being terrified to go up our driveway to not only walking all of the way to the road now but also confidently walking the beach here twice a day and enjoying meeting new people, dogs and most importantly, showing off his finds along the way. We still have a long way to go with training but we are sure enjoying the ride.

Welcome! Lago is gorgeous. Douglas looks like he was a special guy. His face is very sweet. I would also love to see a picture of your boxer. (Boxergirl here, lol.)
