I was away from home and this happened...

I was away for two weeks. My wife noticed that our dogs(male; 2 years and female; 4/years) did things a bit differently. They are used to my normal routine.

The day I left they went to the front door and waited as normal. About an hour later they started whimpering.

About two hours later they both went to the living room and stayed. If my wife got up; they got up. If she went to the bathroom, they went along.

While I was gone, my wife had at least one of them within touching distance at all times.

While she was sitting, one of them was on her feet at all times.

If she took a nap, even on the couch, one of them was beside her.

Normally one or both of them would be napping on our bed. While I was gone neither if them went to bed until my wife went to bed.

It isn't unusual for them to alert on vehicles 1/2 mile away. During my time away they got downright mean and stayed that way until the vehicle was out of sight. Kinda unique is that both would go to wherever the threat was visible then the male would remain while the female would sit near (or on) my wife untl the male quit growling.

Even when our son would get up at night, the male would vigorously challenge him until he spoke.

It doesn't take much to imagine what would happen if some was to break in.
