I think I've lost my mind...

Yesterday my husband called me and said his friend just got 2 EM's. The owner couldn't take care of them anymore so he just gave them up. Knowing we love mastiffs, he called Jason and wants us to have one. Its a 7 month old fawn female. Why did I tell my Jason to take me to see this dog?? I think we are going when he gets home. And as already stated, I think I've lost my mind!!

ok cancel that...I just found out the guy is on his way over with 3 for me to choose from! I was hoping for someone to reply and talk some sense into me prior to going but that's not going to happen now!

lost your mind eh?
oh bless.
How niaive that you think you have a choice here LMAO
who could resist? Not me that's for sure. And having just been given my multiple animal licence, id use that as an excuse "it must be fait" and be in your situation!

You gotta watch husbands, they can sabotage your sensible self in a nanosecond, by pressing the right button:)

I should've known better than to ask for you all to tell me no! lol So at the moment I have two of the three. What can I say, I am a sucker for a mastiff! Jason's friend kept the third. He was planning to buy one from some guy for $1200. The guy dropped the price to $400 for whatever reason. He went to pick the pup up and the guy gave him three for no charge. Said he was downsizing and can't afford them. I have no doubt that they came from a byb. But they do have AKC paperwork and I have it. All I know is they were born February 24th and they were kept in a barn or kennel. The guys said the dad was 240 and the mom was 180...but we all know how people love to exaggerate their dog's weight. They are both underweight and covered in fleas. Also they have never been leash trained or house trained. They probably haven't had any vaccs either. I currently have them in my garage and they are both sharing a bed. They are super sweet and love the kids. Parker and Jax were fine with them but due to their fleas (and lack of vet care I'm sure) I am keeping them separate for now. They have been very low key so far. I just gave them a bit of food and rice and they are now sleeping. I also gave them a comfortis so hopefully the fleas will be dead shortly! I cannot believe what great temperaments they have! I have fallen for them both but both cannot stay! Pup #1 was the runt I think. She is much thinner and her feet are a bit smaller. She is super sweet and very mellow. Pup #2 is a bit bigger and a love bug. Her tail doesn't stop wagging. She seems to be a bit more protective. She attached to me quickly and then growled and barked at Jax when he got near me while in the garage! Jason's friend has never had a mastiff and I was afraid he would give them to just anybody. So I felt obligated to take them both to ensure they find good homes. If anyone with experience is interested, PM me. I think I may keep pup #2. She took to me instantly and I am smitten :) well I tried to post pics and its not working...any suggestions?

I wish you weren't so far away. I'm looking for a rescue. Truthfully, I'm looking for one in a little more dire straits. But a puppy, geez that is hard to turn away from.

They are pitiful. I couldn't let them leave and who knows what happen to them. My husband is less than thrilled that we have two lol or even one for that matter. But like you said, its all his fault :p

OMG! Don't even tempt me.

I was told if I got the extra bedroom cleaned out I could get another rescue, I'm only a couple of hours away from having it done. See, what you can do locally. See how she does with the other dogs. Cane is Alpha and I don't see that causing a problem but Ziva will not give up 2nd in line. She is very dominate over the ACD. They have never had a fight but Ziva likes to boss her around. If I bring a young dog in she will have to be submissive.

My thoughts have been to add an old dog. Kind of provide hospice care for the last year or two of their life. But I have been itching for more of a pup.
