Hello again I'm back with hopes of finding a solution. My 6 month old EM won't stop "chewing" on me.. its not bitting or nibbleing but he uses teeth so not sure why or how to stop. It mostly happens when I either let him out if his crate ,get home from work or sometimes when I place his collar on him. My em will grab my hand/s w his teeth I've never allowed ur long enough to know if he'll bite but just gravity with those teeth it leaves marks or bruises. I am so frustrated about it I've done the hurt pup who yelps and turns away, I've done the ignoring until he's calm then give attention, I've tried the tap to the nose, I've even tried holding his mouth closed not that I can get my hands around that mouth but I've tried...I've tried everything and can't get him to stop. I have to admit I'm not the aggressive one w him and do baby him but I do discipline and don't let him do as he pleases and he listens some what when he's not being stubborn but with this I've been persistent and nothing... :( :( :(

You might need to be firmer. He needs to feel that assertive energy to know that it's not okay. Remember, he's a dog not a person. DOn't let him chew on you. Disagree with that behavior.

I'm going through the same thing with my 7.5 month old TM. One primary thing I am working on is more walks - we're now doing mornings with both dogs and evening with just the pup, who has a lot more energy to burn off than my 7 yr old girl. Then, as we play, if he starts biting and I yelp/stop/leave the area, I am making sure to come back to play in a few minutes. If he doesn't get more of the fun times, I don't know that he'll get the message that I quit play for a specific reason.

I would just be more firm with him... I actually do let Zeus play with my arm sometimes to teach him to never bite hard or to stop the second I tell him to. He used to try to do it all the time and I assumed it was to assert himself as higher in the chain of command. In fact, he still tries to do that to strangers sometimes when they are in the house a long time.....but he's pretty much figured out that that's not the right thing to do. Now I need to get him to quit trying to hump eveveryone all the time lol
