How to stop a bee hive in progress

I was out pulling some weeds in our yard when I noticed bees flying in and out of a hole in the side of our house. Immediately I feel panicked. I do not need a bee hive taking residence in our walls right before we move.

We remembered that hornets don't like dryer sheets and my husband carefully taped a few dryer sheets around the hole in the wall. By the next morning there was no bee activity around the hole. Two days and still no bee activity. All of my fingers and toes are crossed that they went looking for a more hospitable home.

Thanks for sharing. I definitely wasn't aware of the effect of dryer sheets on bee activities. Well, some dogs like to eat them, some people utilize them to scare bees aware. Others use them for laundry :)

I wasn't sure if they would work on the honey bees since I had always heard about how effective they were with hornets but apparently bees also hate them.
