Many of you have some amazing pictures? How do you get them? A photographer? How do you make them stay still? Zeela is so beautiful & extremely hard to get a good picture of. My phone camera does no justice. She looks Majestic when she sits upright. I want to get a really great photo of her. any suggestions?

None of mine are professional and most are taken with my phone. I take hundreds and only a handful come out good. To keep them still.... luck and/or bribery. I can always get them still now without bribery but they don't like looking at the camera. They hate the phone/camera and will purposefully look away. Sometimes I can get them to "watch me" despite the camera for a few moments... just long enough. If I have a treat in hand I can always get them to do it.

Oh and the other thing that works... tire them out first.

Zeela I have this problem too. That's why most of my photos of Logan are of him sleeping :D

My phones camera SUCKS! It is OK outside, but inside makes every pic look hazy and yellow. My 16 year old is way better w pics than I am.

    Great tips Nik! :)

Same as Nik, I take A LOT then go through and delete the duds. I use my phone for all my photos. Lettie is really good at “stay” so I use that for 90% of the photos I take of her. I see her in some cute pose and I tell her “stay” then I get down on her level and take 10 pictures then “release” her. Also if you have an iPhone there is a feature called “portrait mode” that takes great blurry background photos. If you have a smartphone at all you can download a free app from google called “Snapseed” that’s my favorite photo editor. I love that it’s free and simple to use. I edit every photo I ever share. Just adjusting the brightness of photos makes a huge difference. :D

I agree with all of you. It‘s not an easy task at all. I use my iPhone 6s, which typically works pretty well. However, he hates the camera and turns or moves away. Doing it out of a stay usually works, or if a second person gets his attention through a "watch me", "focus" or whatever word you use. As you‘ve all mentioned, it takes about 100 pictures for 10 really good ones.

I find four commands very helpful in getting good photos of my dogs. "Wait" means pause wherever you are and whatever you are doing, and then I can snap a pic. "Stay" is of course helpful for posed shots. Then there's "watch me" for looking at me and the camera. And "look at that." Which involve me pointing in a direction, then the dog looks in that direction and I can get a side shot or whatever I'm trying to get. The dogs aren't camera shy anymore because they know that cookies happen when the camera comes out. And never, ever underestimate the power of a quality camera. Even so, I take hundreds and expect to be happy with only a handful.

To be honest, luck. Kryten is 6 and I might have a dozen photos of him that I would consider really good.

Yes, luck definitely plays a role. I‘ve found that taking pictures in the same spot makes it easier (I know boring). Bane is ok with me taking pictures while he is sitting on his bed. It works out pretty well with this background. The outdoor action pictures are the challenging ones!
