We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.
It is going to depend on what food you are feeding. A high calorie food is going to have a smaller amount than either a low calorie food or a food that has more fillers.
Your best bet is to start by going with the amount recommended on the bag and then adjust based on how they are growing. Too skinny, increase the amount. Getting plump, decrease the amount.
You can see his ribs, somewhat his back spine. I know when I first got him he was even more skinnier and has been gradually gaining weight. He's 12 weeks and 20lbs.
You want to keep them on the lean side when they are pups so I adjust so I can see the last three ribs and the hips when they are standing. Too much weight can affect their joints. Mine are growing slow and steady which is what you want but could eat the whole bag in one sitting if allowed too. Just because he could eat doesn't mean he's hungry.
He does look like that and vets say he's too skinny, but he also throws up in the car before he see them (car emotion sickness). He's probably fine then and just slowly growing. I'll keep doing what I'm doing.
Fromm, high quality food. I figured it out though, thank you! I was just wondering how much others were feeding their pup at this age. (Cups per day) with mentioned brand of food.
It will vary based on the quality, kcals per cup and how often you are able to feed. Each pup will also have a different metabolism which will play a part in how much the pup should eat. We have pups that are hard to keep weight on even eating 6-8 cups as they just breath off the calories.
