How much food do you go through in a month?

I feed authority large breed puppy. It has 5 stars on the dog food advisory. I've also upped him a little. He was getting too thin. During the holidays my family commented that he looked very slim. Im trying to balance him. I've followed the guidelines on the bag, but some days he seems hungrier and others not as hungry. Im trying to reduce the amount of wasted food. I've had to trash several bowls

I've found it's a bit difficult to regulate the amount of food with a growing pup. I have an almost 9 month old BM and I only increase her food when she looks noticabley thinner. She tends to maintain her size, then all of a sudden have a growth spurt and thin out again. Then I add just a bit more food until we are at a nice weight.

But frankly, what *I* consider to be a nice weight, to most people would be too thin. The puppy weighs 71 pounds and gets 3 cups per day of Acana Pacifica and the adult Am Staff/Mastiff X weighs 70 pounds and get 2/3 Cups 2x/day.

I don't know about saving money feeding raw. Emma is 75 lbs with an expected adult weight of 120. She is getting 3 lbs raw meat/day if you figure an average price of 2.50/lb that is $230month. I wish I hadn't figured this out...... *sigh*

Are you in an area to access butchers? We averaged 1.50/lb with sales but now that we are getting the freebies this months food cost us less than $25.

I did catch pork butts on sale for 1.78 lb yesterday. I try ro keep it under $2/lb if I can. Is human grade pork ok to feed raw or do I need to freeze it like game meat?

I feed human grade straight from the store. I hope someone corrects me if that's wrong.
Straight from the store-- that's what I do, and it's fine.

dpenning, my story is pretty much the same: 3 pounds per day, with an average of $2+ per pound. Chicken I can get dirt cheap, but that only allows me to spend more on the beef, tripe and other more expensive stuff. Yeah...even with just one (giant) dog, it's a big chunk of change, lol.

For the big boy I'm adpting (18 months, 130 lbs, intact), he's been going through 2 35 lb bags of Nature's Domain per month, plus canned fish, rice, and various bones etc... and he's still kind of skinny. High metabolismI might trap some rabbits for him to see if I can't fill him out, lol

Justice 160 pounds eats 4.5 pounds a day.

Kismet 60 pounds eats 14 ounces a day.

Jezzy 50 pounds eats 10 ounces a day.

So about 270 pounds of dogs
