Sorry I've been posting a lot of questions lately but Im right about to get an EM and wnat to be sure. Also what a forum family for. I have a friend who said food for her EM is IAMS $40 a month. IS that right ? I googled and got different answers. My friend's EM is only 7 months if that helps..

English Mastiff puppies are a giant breed dog who need either a quality adult food or an all life stages food. I'm of no help as to the price but we feed Taste of the Wild Sierra Mountain, which is the only Taste of the Wild formula suitable for giant breed puppies and I have three dogs so we usually go through at least a big bag and a smaller size bag a month. If you can buy a food at Walmart or the grocery store and even a lot of foods available at Petstores than it's not a good food. There's a thread I started about the Whole Dog Journals 2011 List that has a ton of info and food choices. I will tell you that Taste of the Wild is a cheaper quality food at about 50 dollars for a 30lb bag.

We went with Diamond Large Breed (about $30 a bag). He goes through about a bag and a half per month (10 months old), heavier if he hits a growth spurt. So, I would say account for $60 to $100 per month in food costs, depending on what brand you choose.

It really depends on the brand you choose. A good quality food is much, much better for these guys. You can google different brands to find out the analysis, ingredients, etc., the cost and how much to feed and do the math for the different brands. Considering costs, remember there will be heartworm meds, flea protection, misc and vet bills that will all be MUCH higher than for smaller dogs.

We use Innova Large breed and pay about $55/33 lb bag each month. We also spend money on quality treats, which adds to our bill.

From Canada.... about $75 for a 30 pound bag of quality large breed puppy food. That lasts me about 3 weeks. And yes, treats over and above that

Our pup is on Taste of the Wild SM as well and it's $45 per 30lb bag. Grady goes through about 1 bag every 3 weeks depending on growth spurts so about $60 per month. The Vet bill for heartworm meds/shots for the final visit was $250 but I got a 6 month supply (plus 2 months for our other dog) and vets have different costs, of course. I'd say the highest expense are the toys he manages to destroy so quickly! Ha! Love our lug of a pup. Good luck with your new pup!

I feed both my boys Nutro Max Large Breed dog food and they digest it well and they like it. It the the only food we have been able to settle on after trying few different kinds. For my boys it cost me $75 per Mastiff every 2-3 weeks. So approximately $150 to feed my boys each/month but like someone said it all depends on the brand you buy and sometimes where you buy it.Some stores have the same food but different prices?? Not sure how they can do that cause it comes form same place and is same food but for me it is approx $150/per Mastiff. Not counting treats and toys lol I have elk antlers for my boys for bones and they last a long long time. I have seen my boys eat femur bones from a moose in 7 hours so the elk antler has been around a month now so it is a long lasting bone for Mastiff's. They are a bit expensive for a bone $40 but it lasts long. If you go to a butcher they have femur bones they "season" and bake and sell for $5-$10 each which my boys like also. Better then the candied bones more pet stores sell. Good Luck finding a good food ur girl will like :)

I agree that it depends on what brand of food and where you live. It costs me between $200 and $250 each month to feed my 2 dogs (65 lbs high energy and 150 lbs still growing).

This. I use Pulsar so it comes to about 65 per bag. We go through 2, maybe 3, bags a month but that is because I am feeding a Labrador Retriever as well. Then we have treats and I also give RAW feed every day. Right now, Daisy eats about a pound, pound and a half of raw every day and since we started that, the cost has gone down some. We are eventually going to go to full RAW but I have to ease my husband over on the cost. Oh, and purchase another freezer. LOL. Some of the RAW isn't too bad. In fact, one store sells organs for less than 70 cents a pound but you can't feed nothing but organs or RAW would be cheaper. Right now, I would say I spend between 150 to 250 a month for dog food for two dogs. Daisy gets the lion's share of that cost.

I spend about $120 a month between TOW, veggies, yogurt, meat, pb and treats to feed Cruiser. About $26 for heartworm/flea preventative, $30 a month for a bath, nails, expression, teeth cleaning & ears, (includes a 2 hour playdate with another male).

I did some research and found bjs berkely and jensen dog food was the cheapest food with at least a 4 star rating on the dog food advisor site. 30 lbs of kibble for 40 bucks.

I'm still feeding Mira Earthborn Holistics, though I recently switched from Coastal Catch to Great Plains Feast. I go through about one 28 lb. bag at 48 a month for the Coastal Catch and 53 for the Great Plains.

Just did the math. Lincoln is going through a 29 lb bag of Orijen in two weeks (14 days), so I'm spending between $190 and $200 a month on him. I'm switching to Earthborn and if I feed the same amount of Earthborn, it'll drop it down to $105.

More beer money for me.

60 pound bags are way better as far as cost. $90 for 2x30 lb bags and 70 for 1x60lb bag.
