How come people are so concerned with their dog's size?

What a dog "should" weigh is based on the individual dog! Their height, bone density/size/structure, muscle mass etc. Can you see her ribs at all when she turns? Can you feel them fairly easily when you rub you hand over them? If so then she's probably the right weight for HER! Based on the pics she might be a little chubby... it's hard to tell... maybe 10lbs or so? But like I said, if you can feel the ribs pretty easily she's probably fine.

Actually, after looking at the photos again... she might be able to lose 20lbs? If you can feel the ribs then you'll probably want to put her n a little bit of a diet, cut her food back a bit, after she loses 10lbs re-evaluate...

Here are some before/afters of my Beagle/Basset for reference... her weight kinda snuck up on us and one day I just noticed, dang, you got fat! LOL... so I cut back her food a little and kept taking her on walks like I always had and the weight came off... notice the difference in the waist line in the overhead pics...

I agree that she does need to lose a little weight. You want to be able to see a defined waist from above, a visible tuck from the side and then feel the last couple of ribs. Careful feeding her once a day though. Giant breed dogs should ideally be fed at least twice a day to help lessen the chance of bloat.

Yeah, it's best if you split her food into 2 meals. I'd cut down on the treats and make sure she's getting some exercise everyday. How much does she get for her meal everyday? Like if she gets 6 cups, I'd go with 3 in the AM and 2 2/3 in the PM, just cut it back a little and see what happens... like anything form 1/4 cup less to 1/2 cup less to start. What food do you feed? There are a lot of great threads on here about foods.

This is part of your problem. Any food that can be found at the grocery store or Walmart isn't a good enough quality food. Typically the better foods do cost more but they also last longer because you have to feed less. The dogs also get more out of the better quality foods.

Well lucky for you, your dog is over 2 so you have many more options than those of us with pups!!! Several good brands to look for are Earthborn Holistics Grain Free, Acana Grain Free, Orijen, Nature's Variety Instinct and Petcurean Go! Or Now! You're going to what to transition slowly over to the new food by feeding 3-5 days of 75% old, 25% new then 3-5 days of 50% old, 50% new and then 3-5 days of 25% old, 75% new before going to 100% new. Because you want her to lose weight you're going to feed a little less than what the bag says and if she's acting starved you can give her green beans or sweet potatoes as a low cal, filling snack. If you need more food suggestions let me know!

I think you have to change the privacy settings to public for us to see the video on FB. 8 cups sounds like a lot, especially to eat all at one time. Look into higher quality foods where you can feed less but she'll get more.

From what I can tell in the video she actually looks pretty good, she could lose a couple pounds but she's not far from where she should be (IMO), I can see a waist it's just not that defined. So I'd work on getting her down about 10lbs and see how she looks then. I'd still change the food to something higher quality though, at there very least find something that is wheat, corn, soy, and by-product free. Better still would be grain free, and at the very top would be the foods listed by our dog food expert Smart_family!

As neobull said I don't think she's fat by any means 10 pounds wouldn't hurt look for that last rib if you can see it than that's normally a good sign of healthy weight
