Crossing fingers that it really is something "simple" like giardia!

Rice usually helps with the diarrhea

For fucks sake feed that girl some earthborn...not everyone is cut out to feed raw... Obviously the shit ain't working. I'm not trying to be an ass but this has been going on for way too long. At some point you have to decide if kibble might not be better than her shitting water every other day.

The problem is how intermittent it is. Its like a once or twice a month thing. Which is just weird. If the raw really wasn't working then I'd expect it to be constant. Mind if nothing else seems to solve the problem then maybe a switch back to kibble needs to be tried for a few months, but I'm really not sure thats the problem.

For fucks sake, not every time a raw fed dog gets sick is it due to the raw food.

She had diarrhea like this BEFORE raw. She was always straining and her poops were never solid, and I tried 3 different kibbles. Granted, she was younger when she was last on kibble (been feeding her raw since she was 7.5 months old). If she keeps getting sick like this with no explanation (e.g., clean fecal, no diet changes, she didnt eat something stupid) then I will try kibble again.

No diarrhea today. Last night I fed her some rice and pumpkin because she threw up stomach bile. I got her diatomaceous earth, probiotic blend (has glucosamine, cq 10, vitamin c, and a few other things), goats milk (raw), cod liver oil, a new antler, all natural flea stuff, and dehydrated green tripe treats. Today I will give her rice, burger, and some goats milk then tomorrow ill fed her normally and just add in the diatomaceous earth and probiotics.

She also had some green discharge after she peed. No funky smell or anything, just didnt look right to me. I've noticed she really doesn't drink (unless we are on a hike), last night I got her to drink some water with pedialite, but I'm wondering if that could be causing issues.

For fucks sake I never said it was the raw food, I'm leaning more towards the raw feeder. I could be wrong but it seems like every week she can shit through a screen door at twenty feet. Have you got her into the vet today? While everyone here loves helping last I checked I havent seen any of those little initials next to anyones name.

Maybe it's just plain old IBS. People get it maybe dogs can too. Were you saying she has a discharge from her Vulva? I think you said you were going to visit the vet today do mention that (I'm sure you would). I just read some stuff on Pyromethia (sp?) and that scares the hell out of me.

Its definetly NOT every week, if you actually go look at the threads. And she DID say she was going to be checking with a vet today.....

Defiently mention the discharge to the vet, she's young enough pyometra would be unusual, but its not unheard of either.

Edit: cats can get IBS, so I don't see why dogs couldn't

Have you asked your Vet about IBS?

I have brought her to the vet last time she had diarrhea. They said she seemed fine. Clean stools. Looked good. The vet was not concerned considering she was in heat (he said her hormones could be causing the diarrhea). I couldn't get into the vet today and will drop off a fecal and urine sample tomorrow, hopefully I can get her in to see the vet but at least I will be able to drop off the samples.

She doesn't have diarrhea every other week. Not even close. I just don't like when it happens for no apparent reason (I bring her to the vet and they can't explain it, the day prior to diarrhea she was totally normal, etc)

And yes mike, from her vulva. I looks like how it was before her last heat, but she just got it three months ago, I can't imagine she is going into heat again.

I haven't mentioned ibs. Honestly, my vet isn't pushy and he doesn't drum up minor issues to be a huge deal. So he didnt think the diarrhea she had the last time was a big deal. He didnt think she needed blood work and he thought everything about her looked great. She did have mild vaginitus, but again the vet saw her the day before she started her heat so the vaginitus was normal considering her heat.

When I go in this time I will request more in depth testing and will express that I am not just being hypochondriac and I want my concerns to be taken more seriously.

That is why I brought up Pyro. Keep a very close eye on her as pyometra can go bad (sepsis) very quickly. Fever, diarrhea, vomiting and depression are some of the symptoms. Not saying I think this is it just bringing it to your attention because of the discharge.

Re: Here we go again...*warning graphic pics of stool, not for those with a weak stom

I had a cat with either IBS or colitis and it was very hard to deal with. It was an every day thing, though. Poor girl is still sick and I had to rehome her to my MIL. She was quite the bitch (not sure if it was colon related) and was so mean to my 2 male cats that they started to not want to be in the same room with her. After a year it was still like that.

Sorry for the TJ.

I hope ou find relief for your dog, I know it is hard to not know WHY.

I'm not sure whats required to diagnose IBS for a dog, for my old cat they said they saw signs of it on her ultrasound (when they looked at her kidneys, they looked at her intestines and pancreaus too). She never really had diarrhea problems from it though.

I DO think that its gone on, intermittently, long enough that its worth looking a little deeper. Giardia test definetly, mention IBS (its worth finding out what tests would need to be done anyway), and Mike makes a point about the discharge and watching for any other signs....I'm probly forgetting something lol
