I called the emergency vet and they basically told me the same thing. I feel horrible! She will be going to work with me to get into the vet ASAP in the morning. I have never dealt with this. Should I be concerned with her on the furniture? OI, I am a mess right now. Sorry

Go to a 'Tractor Supply' or farm supply and get Diatomaceous Earth food grade (not pool chemicals they are poison). Here is a site for ordering and instructions for giving- http://wolfcreekranch1.tripod.com/diatomaceous_earth.html Our new rescue has Whip and Hook worms. I have to put his in a peanut butter sandwich, he won't eat TOTW canned food. The other dogs get it mixed in the canned food. DE is totally safe, I drink it, but use the white DE. Treat all the dogs or cats. Draw back, 30 days of treatment but no harsh chemicals. You need to treat the yard too. Borax laundry detergent, salt water or DE the yard where any BM has been.

All good stuff! We actually sell the Diotamacious earth at work. I will be getting that! I will also treat the yard with the other recommendations. Thanks so much for the help.

Some pups get them in- utero, but usually the breeders test and treat for that. There are several types of worms, all of them gross and disgusting. They can get them from fleas who carry eggs of one particular worm and when they bite the dog the larvae are transmitted to the dog. Sometimes copraphagic dogs (dogs who eat poo) will get them from said poo. If your dog hunts and eats part of their kill or for instance a whole squirrel, they can contract worms from whatever they ate. Easily treated, don't freak out! The thought of them is worse that the reality of them!
