I hope everyone had a very Happy Fourth of July holiday (for the Americans) and for the rest of you I hope you had a wonderful weekend and that your summer is going well. We stayed home with the dogs this July 4th. I have just started the third trimester of my pregnancy and my energy levels and ability to walk very far at all are non-existent these days. So here are some pictures from our home bound holiday featuring our little family including the incubating spawn.
So one thing we learned over the holiday is that the dogs aren't the only ones who don't like the loud bang of the fireworks. The little spawnling also jumped everytime the booms got too loud. It made for a very long night for me as the fireworks didn't stop until well after 3 am and there was no way I was sleeping with the little guy jumping up and down in startlement every few minutes. Around 3 am Diesel seemed to sense my distress or maybe he sensed his new boy's distress and he came up and snuggled up against my belly. That actually helped a lot surprisingly. The little guy settled pretty soon after that and if there were booms I didn't know because I graetefully passed out with no more spastic jumps to keep me awake. I continuously marvel at how intelligent my Diesel is and also how much of a nurse he has become during this pregnancy. Having been kept up so late on the 4th I was absolutely dead on Friday. The dogs and one of the cats decided I should rest on the couch with them all day and all three animals piled up around and on top of me for all day long snuggles. This was my Friday... Another funny thing... I do believe my pregnancy may be contagious. Because the coyotes in the backyard had pups (as of this weekend we have now seen 3 pups and 2 parents). We also have a baby bunny in our backyard. He comes and eats the hazelnuts under our tree. We have a ton of baby squirrels scampering through our trees. We had a nest of baby birds but they have since moved on. So it is baby central around here.
