  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

Had to take Khan back and I am shocked.

I really thought he was doing well but after having him back for an hour he collapsed and could not put any weight on his back left leg. I had to carry him up to the house which was pretty easy because he is so tiny and thin. The owner had to give him up due to living situation and possibly joining the military. I am glad to have him back I just hope I can get him back into shape.

Next to Crusher

Look how swelled up his leg is and see the knot on his bone on the inside of the right leg.

Awwww poor boy! I hope he feels better soon! What a shame...I secretly wanted him but California was too far from NC...I am sorry for him to return to you in such condition! Get better quick Khan!

OMG...he is really skin and bones. I'm so glad you have him back and can nurse him to health. It's too bad the owners didn't give him back sooner. I hope he gets better quickly.

You got him back and he is in good hands. That's the problem with rehoming dogs, you just never know.

Poor baby. What happened to him? Being so skinny, with an obvious injury, makes me wonder if they neglected him? I am glad he is back with you, because you seem to very much value your pups. What a shame. I hope he heals, and my instinct is to have bad feelings towards the owner who gave him back. Going into the military isn't an excuse to neglect a pup you once took responsibility for. Sheesh, just given the basic info, I am pissed.

The pips are 7 months old Crusher is about 120 lbs, and Khan might be 80 but more like 75#. I am finding scars from dog bites all over him and now the leg that is bothering him has a couple hematomas or abscesses on it. I am giving him Clavamox now and feeding him some large breed puppy food mixed with the stuff I give my other dogs and feeding him 3 times a day. He is walking on his own but is plainly in pain and almost emaciated. She tells me he had gotten in a fight 2 days ago with her other pit, mix type dog and I found several punctures on his leg and 2 long scratches down his back. She now tells me she is looking for a job locally and will not kennel him if i allow her to have him back. I am not sure I am up for that. I have her coming over Friday and will discuss many things with her.

Will not kennel him while the other dog already beat him up??? so what? so they can kill each other?????????????????????????

She doesn't deserve that pup back!
What is her excuse for how thin he is?
If my wife wouldn't kill me in my sleep I'd come snag that pup!

Poor khan, he looks depressed and skinny, you'll get him back into shape I'm sure but I wouldn't let him go back.

Oh the poor baby. He looks so thin. I wouldn't feel comfortable giving him back no matter what she says since she let him end up in this condition. Are you a breeder and this was one of your pups?

Poor guy. Has he had a visit to the vet yet? I'd want to make sure there wasn't any other damage to that leg or anything else going on. There is no way in hell I'd let him go back to her. Mike, you care too much about these guys. You'd worry forever if he went back. Get him healthy and find him a different home. Did you sell him on a contract? And when she turned him over to you, did you get her to sign owner relinquishment papers? I don't know if you have to do that, but in rescue we did it for any owner surrenders or returns of dogs so they couldn't change their minds. I'd want all my bases covered. Please keep us updated.

@ tlov, I am not really a breeder, we had an accidental mating. Yes he is one of my pups.

@ DDSK, maybe you can find a new wife? ;) She said she was trying to get his weight up. I am going to feed him heavy and fatty for a week and then taper to a good diet and see if he gains weight. If he does not maybe he has a medical condition.

@ Boxergirl We did have a contract, and she willingly returned him to me. And no we did not sign any relinquishment papers. I doubt she would sign now.

I think that based on the fact of him being malnourished and the dog fights that she should not get him back. JMO

I would think that there's something in there that states neglect or abuse being a breach of contract. Document, Mike. Take pictures, gather vet records, and document all correspondence. You never know if you might need it. I think you have a mentor, right? I seem to remember that you do. What do they say? My last bit of advice would be a vet check right now. Rule out any medical issue that would explain his physical state.

I wrote my own contract and here is the clause.

Other terms. Buyer agrees to return the dog to seller in any event that the buyer can no longer care for or does not want the dog for any reason. Dog will not be altered or neutered until at least 12 months of age 18 months preferably.

Seller will only provide a full refund for up to and not exceeding 60 days from buyer taking possession of the dog. Unless buyer does anything to cause harm or damage to the dog. In which case any refund will be forfeit and applied to the dogs recovery.
