Strange question this may be but having Juno in the house is starting to takes its toll on the smell. In short, it smells like a dog lives there lol. Anyways, how often do you bath your CC. I'm thinking once a week would be ok, but would like a little advice on if that would be too much or if I should bath her every two weeks. This would be a regular deal as long as she didn't get into anything nasty which would immediately call for a bath.

I try to bathe my Luna everyother week. But shes not so good in the tub or with the hose spraying on her, so Its a challenge. I found that in the beginning when she was little if i did give a bath once a week she started to itch and her skin was a little dry. Now I use a dry shampoo so I dont have to chase her around everytime she stinks!!! Good Luck

Lol thanks, her first bath actually wasn't that bad. She just sorta stood in the tub staring at me like WTH are you doing?

thanks

My understanding is you shouldn't bath a dog that frequently. Strips their natural oils in their coats. Hopefully, someone will chime in that is more on the grooming side.

Daisy came home in December and she just had her first bath yesterday. She does play in the hose quite often but no soap. I agree with angelbears, I don't think a dog should need a bath that frequently. What more likely stinks like old dog is dog hair and slobber. We vaccuum and mop at least once a week and have "real imitation leather" furniture that we wipe down with wipes as well to pick up any drool from the furniture. Now, all that being said, when it rains..... it stinks. No way around that one. Good/bad news is it seldom rains in Dallas!

I bathe Titan every other week due to his skin allergies. He used to smell really really bad but the smell is becoming less and less. YAHOO!

Once I have his skin allergies at bay, I'll reduce his baths to once a month.

I do and recommend every 6-8 weeks. Over bathing dries out their skin and is not good for their coat, unless there is a medical issue that requires it.
I don't really notice a dog smell in my house, every now and then there is but not often.
I do brush them frequently and sweep every day.

We bathe ours when they start to scratch a lot from the dust & dirt in their fur, every 3 -4 weeks. This time of year we hose them down on really hot days, so the dust gets washed out more often. We brush them every other day, though. We sweep every day; use the shop vac to vacuum EVERY thing once a week; furniture, walls, floors, knick knacks, etc. We have wood & ceramic floors; fabric and leather furniture. We wipe/wash off slobber whenever we notice a streak. And with 3 bm's there's always a slobber streak somewhere. The house used to stink really bad, even with open windows 3/4 of the year; but with this regimen it doesn't smell at all. It's usually the fur, slobber & dander that makes the house smell.

One thing I know is that if you have an indoor dog there will always be some kind of doggy smell. Even if you don't smell it because you are used to it, its there. Doesn't have to be overwhelming though! I've always had indoor dogs and have always had to vaccuum often using a pet deodorizer on the carpets. Clean their bedding often and air your home out often. Brushing helps with shedding and it helps condition the coat. I use alot of Febreze.

@musicdeb what kind of allergies are you fighting with Titan? I am having skin issues with Cruiser and the scratching is driving me insane! We thought food was the issue, we took him off of chicken products and are using BB basic ingredients feed and the scratching stopped for about 2 weeks. But then we went to the vet for last shots and about 12 hours later the digging and scratching began. Started with a dime sized skin irritation at the shot site and now its just overall scratching. We've had him checked for fleas and mites with nothing found. Its been two weeks since the shots and it hasn't let up. I'm wondering if it isn't grass allergies.

Yeah, we find putting down a carpet deoderiser that is specifically intended for pet odors, and letting it sit for awhile before vacuuming really improves the 'atmosphere'. We also have a carpet and upholstery shampooer that we use around once a month with a product designed to remove pet odoers and stains as well as dirt.

Yep, forgot the shampooer! I have a Bissel spot bot and a heat steamer. Both are used quite a bit and it really helps with the carpet odor!

Might sound a little odd, but we have a big mint plant and if Mira starts to smell a bit but doesn't need a bath, I'll rub her down with some fresh mint leaves. She smells minty fresh for a bit, then smells neutral as the mint wears off.

Okay so every 6-8 weeks is good. Everything else, floors and such are taken care of regularly. We have no carpet in our house only tile and hardwoods. This really doesn't matter but if you have hardwoods you know they get vacuumed, swept, and or dust mopped every other day as they show dust like a yard shows grass. I understand there will be a dog smell in the house, I just don't want it to become overwhelming. Should have asked this in the first post, but how about the pet wipes. Are they safe to use?

I bath my corso and Lab every 6-8 weeks and in between I use Petco dog bath wipes. I also purchased two air cleaners specifically designed to remove pet odor and dander. The band name is WINIX. My dogs are on a raw diet which decreased the doggy smell, shedding and doggy breath.

I give her a bath about every 4-5 weeks and brush her frequently. In between baths I use citrus scented wipes from PetSmart.

I don't have a set schedule for how often mine get a bath. I just give them one if they get too dirty, smell too 'doggy' or worse smell too much like the river (it almost always comes with a wet dog smell even when they are dry). I tried the pet wipes with Jiggers but they didn't seem to work anymore after his fur started to get longer so I stopped buying them.

Denna gets a bath when she gets stinky, or overly-itchy (I use Epi-Soothe oatmeal based shampoo and conditioner that actually helps get RID of itchies! ). So far, it's been about every 4-6 weeks.

And, she LOVES swimming and getting soaked by the hose. So in warm months, she gets 'rinsed' a LOT.

Trinity in a bath, forget about it. Her dislike of water continues to be a work in progress. Thankfully her skin and coat are fantastic so just a dry shampooing every few weeks.
