  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

Gotta Celebrate!

Pru will be turning three this year and we have been working hard on an off leash recall in distraction. (Her biggest distractions are people and dogs - she loves them all!) While she has would reliably come back to me in the absence of these two, when she was saw people or dogs, she became so excited that my command to Come did not even register with her.

For the past 8 months we have been all but dedicating ourselves to gaining an off leash recall in ANY distraction. For us, a Come command is come to me and stay at my side until I release you.

In this time she has learned to come to me in ANY distraction! She has come back to me while:
- In a full on chase of a rabbit!
- Meeting a group of horses for the first time EVER on a trail! (They passed us let than 2 feet away.)
- Seeing dogs anywhere from 20 to 5 feet away from us (single and groups of dogs).
- In the process of meeting new dogs (single and groups of dogs).

And this week she just demonstrated that she will come to me on the Come hand signal alone - no verbal command.

To say that I am beyond thrilled is an understatement!! (This was taken right after I called her back from chasing the rabbit.)

Pru is a pretty gal! What an accomplishment. While in chase of a rabbit! That's impressive. It is hard work, but it absolutely pays off...

We had a local well known trainer here in Louisiana named Dick Russell. He taught paper plate recall. That's the method we start with at 12 weeks old. It has worked very well for us in the past.

Gaining an off leash recall in any distractions is the ultimate goal!! Congrats!
