I have posted millions of questions on here and everyone has helped so much. I have talked to breeders and some with showdogs. For a female , Fawn mastiff puppy that I want, I have found it to be around $1000 up to $2500 plus shipping fees. BUT I found a fawn female 12 weeks for $750 and he has 2 left. I know the price sounds strange right? He said he has the parents on site so we can see them and he offers a years health guarentee for an exchange of another pup if something happens. I have been talking to the owners for 2 weeks and seems legit. He has sent many pics I am going tonight to their farm to possibly get her so ANY advice or what to look for when I go? If it wasnt for the price I wouldnt really question it but.....

So I asked again why so cheap? He said he sold others in the litter ...2 for $2500 for show.. and the rest for $1200 no breeding rights. Its a hobby and needs to get rid of the last 2. Looking on line and the town they live in is really small. Population 3900 people.

I wouldn't base the the quality of the dog on the price. All of our dogs were cheaper than they were supposed to be for various reasons but they are all good dogs. You want to look for pups that look healthy. Puppies nap a lot but when they aren't napping they should be interested and playful. Ask about whether the pups have been dewormed and if so how many times. If you see a puppy with really bad diarrhea and possibly blood in their stool, don't take that as being okay. I've had breeders tell me that before and it's not okay at all. Is the puppy coming with papers or not? Ask if they have been to the vet and had any shots. Make sure you find out what kind of food they have been on so you can transition to a new one.

Good luck with the breeder and don't base off of price. Our lab was considered to be a "cheap" lab and he is a wonderful dog that excelled at hunting and has the proper conformation. No health problems even at 8. His hips and elbows are clear, eye clearances have been done and his eyes are still good and his heart has been good. My bulldog's breeder purchased a male for over $6000 and she ended up having to retire him because he had a health problem. A friend of mine was interested in a Neo stud that turned out to have diabetes and the breeder had paid over 3500 for him. I recommend that you look at the breeder, where the dogs are housed, the health of all the dogs (not just the dam and sire but every dog he owns), the health of the puppies and the cleanliness of the areas where the dogs are kept. If they look unwell or you get a feeling like this isn't the right breeder, run regardless of if his dogs are 5 bucks or 5000 bucks.:)
